Q: Extremity Numbness

After being on topamax for my migraines for about 3 months last fall, I began to get the occasional spells of left sided numbness, mostly in the upper side of my body. I was taken off the topamax but since the spells did not go away I am back on it once again.

My spells begin in my fingers and move up into my chest and back, face, head and stomach. This is not the usual pins and needles numbness that is a symptom of topamax. The numbness reduces my motor abilities, and I find it hard to do any fine-tasks eg: playing sports, eating, driving, showering, etc. My heart was checked by a cardiologist and it is not the cause of these symptoms.. Does anybody else have any such symptoms? Or does anybody else have hemiplegic migraines?.. I think this could be a form of those..

I take 100mg of Topamax a day and sometimes the side of my face will go numb but more often it is my hands and feet. I think it is a common side effect.

Migraines
I have had migraines since I was 8 Im now 32. Back when I was a kid nobody knew what was causing me to vomit everytime my left side became numb, or when my mouth got numb I couldnt talk right. And no meds were available. My doctor now had given me different samples of meds but nothing helped untill he gave me Axert 12.5 mg. I also now get an ora so as soon as I get the ora I take my pill and sleep for a little . When I wake up Im ready to shop (couldnt do that in the past)

UPDATE
It turns out that I actually had a brain tumor. I had been seeing my neurologist for 4-5 years and he never did a head scan. If you are having any unusual symptoms, GET A SCAN DONE!!! I can't say it enough! And make sure that you have a healthy relationship with your doctor!

Ya, I'm 16 and I used to have hemiplegic migraines. It was hell, being numb, puking, and not being able to move or barely talk.

But the medications for it are very dangerous. I couldn't take Imitrex or anythign like that because it could cause me to have a heart attack, according to my doctor. Nobody would give me anything, so I started buying weed. Never had one since...

So um, I recomend hemi migraine sufferers smoke a J.
