I just read in the paper that there is a clinical trial starting at ut southwestern medical center of dallas and childrens medical center. If your child is doing poorly in school, is sad or irritable and having difficulty with concentration and is withdrawing from friends or activities with a change in appetite or sleep they may qualify. They are currently studying depression in children and teens. If your child, ages 7-17, is experiencing any of these symptoms of depression, call annie, study coordinator at 214 456-8919 for more information. Your child may qualify for an evaluation and treatment with an investigational medication at no cost.

There was also an ad for the pediatric psychiatry research program at the university of texs southwestern medical center at dallas. They have received funding to study depression in adolescents with room for improvement on certain medications for depression. If your child, age 12-18, is currently taking medication for depression (prozac, celexa, zoloft, luvox, or lexapro) and are not back to their normal self, call gerri, study coordinator, at 214 648- 5338 or fax 214 648-4455.
If your child qualifies, they will receive treatment with investigational medication or investigational medication combined with therapy at no cost to you.
