Q: ADD or Generalized Anxiety?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on February 2nd, 2007
I posted a question recently....I have always had a hard time with texture....especially fabrics, I can't wear certain types and i cant stand the sound it makes when it rubs together....i litterally get chills. although this has always been a problem it has gotten much worse, mostly my fingers and feet (no walking barefoot, touching fabrics, paper etc) it feels almost painful, shooting. a response i got said it might be tactile sensitivity and when i looked it up it said it could be related to ADD. When i looked up the symtoms it was like a light turned on because i saw all of these things I go through i.e. difficulty staying on track, poor listening skills, short attention span (i have a hard time listening, it's like my brain is scrambling or something)anxiety,my mind wanders even when i try to focus, trouble sitting still, I have an extemely hard time organizing, it feels like my brain just shuts down, do you think this explanation is possible, should i talk to a doctor?

ADD (attention deficit disorder) is mostly diagnosed for kids. According to your symptoms (can’t stand some types of clothes, go barefoot, touch fabrics and paper; difficulty staying on track; poor listening skills; short attention span etc.) you could be experiencing generalized anxiety disorder. You can ask for an expert opinion and treatment options from a mental health doctor.
