Breastfeeding And Surgery?
Posted: 02-02-07 07:05am

So I brought my paperwork from the er to the dr today at the clinic, and went over it, basically I will have to have my gallbladder removed eventually but he sait it was up to meand wuold be better to wait since im breastfeeding and jordynnes so little. Does breastfeeind have anything to do with having surgery , it will be laproscopic and prob same day thing I think. But id rather have it done sooner then later if at all possible. I supplement with formula if ihave to. I just dont know that if theres some reason why he said to wait or just the fact of not being able to feed her or if its something medical. I know people have had them removed while pregnant before etc. He told me whenever I decide I wanna do it to make an appt so he can set up a consult. So eh , I just dont want the pain recurring more and more often since itshappend 4 times in the past month ya know. I mean eh id switch to formula if ihad to, the pain is worse then labor I think lol. So the sooner its gone the better. But im not sure ifi should wait and howlong I should wait.

Im not sure about any of this, its all speculation but maybe its because he would put you on strong pain killers (even laproscopy hurts, just not as much) and it could pass through brestmilk, or hes conserned about the time it takes for the surgery, her not eating and/or you not feeding/pumping, he may also be worried about infection afterwards

like I said all speculation, you should ask him why he said that and what the risks would be

Ya I didnt really ask him to much , hes indian and has a really strong accent so it was really hard to understand most of what he said, hopefully there are other drs there when I make the appt to set up a consult.
