wow natalia you really dont get it huh? Do you live your life based on stats? I do not....My son held his head fully at birth so dont sit there and tell me its impossible because the internet told you so...You really should stop reading its one of those cases where it actually makes you more stupid.

dr sears had a high needs baby himself, like I said. This man knows what he is talking about.
Youre the one that doesnt get it.
And no where does it say that its impossible for a baby to hold its head up, its just not common.
You really should start reading, because you obviously wanted some advice otherwise you wouldnt have posted this. It wont hurt you to read emma. Dr sears has a lot of experience not to mention he is very educated. Why are you so scared of getting some help from this?

In my opinion, knowledge is power.

yes knowledge is power but you take it too far with your believing eveyrhting one man has to say...I read enough and I dont believe everything a book has to say...I will take experience anyday over your statistics...

that is the most ignorant thing I have ever heard.
Knowledge is power.
What makes you stupid is thinking you are so above and beyond. You are so much smarter than experienced professionals? Then why did you post this to begin with?

I don't care for Dr. Sears. His was one of the first books I bought. After two weeks with chu, I threw his book away. His approach did not work for me and everything that he said only served to make my life with a new baby harder. After throwing him away I tried the common sense approach and that worked waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy better.

im not talking about one man emma, I have read a ton of baby books. I just posted this for you as one of the things I have read, and coming from a man who had a high needs baby I figured it would be more credible.
What, exactly, dont you believe that he is saying? Its not like he is making up fables here.

i think in some cases we are all smarter than experienced professionals. Why does it take them years of study to "learn" what is common sense or instinct to most mothers?

ohmygosh...Believing books makes people stupid now? Jesus! Wow lets burn all of our books and lets get rid of the education system too while were at it! Who needs an education! Lets all be idiots together.
You sure are a smart one.

My ideas arent based on others peoples kids. Dr sears helped me. I had no idea how to cope with a high needs baby and I sure as well wasnt going to listen to everyone telling me to just let him cry it out.

Time out already.

Just because you disagree with someone's posting doesn't mean you have to put them down.

Let them take whatever approach they want and you do yours.

None of us are the same and no two of us will raise our kids the same.

i see where you are coming from. But to answer your quesion, its probably because they have to get proof, like do studies on it and gather enough evidence to make a claim.

youre lucky you dont have a high needs baby. Most people with laid back babies dont necessarily need to look into all of the books.
I dont see anything wrong with becoming knowledgeable on things.

I don't think nancy's son is a high needs baby. . .Reguardless, everyones child if different and books that may have helped you may not help others.

Every child is different and I think that every mother and family has to find out what is right for them. A book can't tell you what to do in every situation natalia, but if you want to live your life like a book then that is fine. If people dont' want to take your information and live their lives by it, it doesn't make them wrong. I grew up with a 'high needs brother' and we didnt' live life opening a book everytime we needed to find out what to do. It doesn't always work for everyone. Life doesn't come with a hand book and babies don't either.

My dear you are the one whom believes herself to be smarter because you waste your time investigating and believing everthing you read..Baby books are useless but use them if you believe your child falls under every category described...I asked for advice and I got the best answers possible..From real mothers not paper

i just want to clarify something. I dont have to open a book for every little thing. I read these books to help me when I was in the same situation as emma. I had a crying baby all the time and couldnt get anything done. Granted a lot of it had to do with physical problems...But that led to the high needs part and sensory issues. Now that he is properly medicated he is starting to act less and less high needs.
