Let me preface all of this by saying that I am bipolar as well as add. I take 15mg abilify for bipolar and 30mg adderall xr for my add.

My girlfriend and I are expecting our first child. She's only 15 weeks right now and hasn't even started to show in the belly region, the only physical difference is that her breasts have grown more firm and from a c to a dd. I am probably even more attracted to her now than I was before she was pregnant.

When we were intimate in the past 5 months I had trouble maintaining an erection for longer than a few minutes. When we would start with the foreplay I would instantly achieve an erection but if it wasn't 'attended to' it went away quickly and was very difficult to get back. I would say about 40-50% of the times that we were intimate I had trouble maintaining my erections long enough for penetration and if I managed to last long enough for penetration it didnt stay hard for more than maybe 5 minutes.

Since I have gotten on the adderall xr (i was on strattera before but to no avail) my frequency in not being able to maintain an erection has gone up to about 75% of the time. One weekend we spent 3 hours on saturday and 5 1/2 hours on the next day, sunday, where I was only able to achieve an erection one time on both days but not even long enough for penetration.

I know that the adderall xr has progressed my problems gaining and maintaining an erection but I had this problem before I got onto it and its very frustrating because my libido hasn't decreased at all. When we are able to have sex successfully (in the 6 and a half years i've been sexually active up until the last 6 months I had never been unsuccessful lol) I have no problem bringing her to orgasm and myself generally at the exact same time if not just 2 or 3 minutes after she climaxes.

I'm going to try to see a urologist very soon and look into some viagra, cialis, or levitra because I really can't come off the adderall. I lose all my productivity, motivation, and focus. I have tried just about every add medication out there and this is the only one that has worked for me. So i'm hoping that since I had a pre-existing difficulty with it that they will prescribe it to me. I have excellent health insurance so the cost isn't of any concern.

I've also been looking into herbal supplements that are supposed to increase blood flow but I refuse to buy them online, I want to find a store nearby that maybe sells them. I know that even at 7-11 convenience stores they sell horny goat weed. I've never used it but starting today i'm going to start using a topical homeopathic 5% testosterone cream that I was using when I was going to the gym to tone my body. I remember that it caused frequent erections and I had tests done before I started using it to make sure that it wouldn't interfere with my natural testosterone production.

But I will let everyone know how the topical works again since I haven't used it since i've been experiencing e.D. But in the meantime if anyone can tell me about herbal supplements that they might have tried that even worked in the slightest and any input on my situation I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

You have add? Adderall working well? I'd like more info. From you about it. I'm considering getting it, but I have tourettes and am a little worried about it making my tics worse.
As for the e.D.- i'm sure it's related to meds. I'm on zoloft and it makes my "completion" take forever. Not really a horrible side effect though. My wife hates it but w/out meds. I am a bear to live with.

They generally don't prescribe stimulants to people with tourettes, and for that matter they generally dont prescribe them to people who have bipolar comorbid add. But since I had tried just about every add medication under the sun, they decided to try adderall even though there is a risk that it can progress bipolar and even force it into rapid cycling which isn't very common in people with bipolar until they're in their 40's but I went through a 3-4 year period where I was heavily using cocaine (which is another reason they generally wouldn't prescribe me a stimulant but i've been in recovery for 2 years now clean and sober) and that 3-4 year period forced my condition into rapid cycling when I was 17. So there's not really too much more that it could progress.

But to your question, for me personally it works wonders. My productivity, motivation, time-management (which is especially important once the baby gets here), and my times when I have good moods have increased 10 fold. It is the only add medication that i've actually had results with. And I tried the adderall ir (instant release) and didn't really have very good results until I switched to the xr. But it has definately changed and improved my life so much. I don't care what people say about it being an amphetamine derivitive, it works wonders.

And as for my e.D. I was having it about 50% of the time while I was on no medications at all. And i'm in great shape, very active, eat well, and i'm perfectly healthy. So i'm hoping the urologist can shed some light on this very frustrating problem. Because with me not being able to perform she doesn't really understand that it's not her fault. She thinks that she's getting bigger (which she hasn't yet like I said before) and that i'm not attracted to her anymore. It has made her really withdrawn in the bedroom especially in the last month or so she never wants to make love anymore which really doesn't make me feel any better about the fact that theres nothing I can do about it. Pile that on top of her already being hormonal and crying all the time for no reason and it is definately a lot to handle.

Thanks
I appreciate the info. About adderall. I may try it and just deal with the explosive tics. My productivity sucks!
As for your e.D.- urologist will be able to help. Is your libido high and you just cant perform?
Your wife will be hormonal for long periods to come. It doesn't help that you have this problem to throw in there, but when the e.D. Gets taken care of, that part will be better. The hormonal part, well.......
Don't yell at me for the next part ladies..........
I've been through the "pregnancy" cycle with my wife 3 times now. The first, a little teary eyed occasionally; the 2nd- alot teary eyed most of the time and for months after as well; the last one (and I mean the last one)- very cranky the whole time and for a year after. I know the hormones are raging girls, but seriously- crying over laundry?
Anyways, hope the uro. Can give you some help and good luck with the kid. Give your wife lots of attention and love and just be there. Paste a smile on!

It is definately worth a try because if it works for you it really is a wonderful drug. Do you see a regular psychiatrist? (i don't know what the treatment is for tourette's obviously lol) i've seen probably 3 or 4 different psychiatrists in the past 7 years and generally if I tell them I would like to try a different medication and I assure them that if, in my case for example, it triggers manic episodes for me that I will go off of it immediately and set up an appointment asap to get in with them and get a new med, they generally are pretty open with letting you try new medications. Being a little older it will actually probably be easier for you because a lot of college kids my age abuse it and its a class ii controlled substance they are a little hesitant to give it to people in my age bracket but like I said, if you have a regular psychiatrist I bet it would be no problem for you to try it.

In answer to your question yes my libido is actually still very high, probably higher than its ever been because since she's gotten pregnant I am more attracted to her (sexually) than ever just for the fact that she's carrying our child. But going from a c to a dd didn't hurt either ha.

No Psych.
I do not see a psych. Only a neurologist. I probably should but with 3 kids and lesser health coverage, i'm the last one to go. I really believe the urologist will help alot since you have a high libido still. I don't think its chemical- but who knows for sure. I hear ya on your wifes boobs. My wife was really hot with all three kids (not that she isnt anyways- you know what I mean). She looked yummy even with the big belly and all! Best of luck and I hope you get some answers on the e.D. Pm me if you need anything- I check often

Yeah I probably wont be able to get into a urologist until the end of next week maybe the beginning of the week after that but I guess I can live with just giving her oral pleasure until then. Luckily i'm not the type of guy that is completely self absorbed and only concerned with his own getting off. I don't mind occasionally not getting off if we're intimate but this has just been ridiculous lol. Once I get in though i'll definately send ya a pm. And your neurologist should be able to prescribe you adderall as well just make sure to get the xr not the ir :-p

something I forgot to add in my inital post is that I can't even manage to maintain an erection if I want to masturbate which I hadn't even attempted in probably 7 months or so because she kind of wears me out lol. But I just applied that homeopathic 5% testosterone cream and it takes about 30-45 minutes to absorb and see results so I guess i'll post back here in about an hour and let you all know how that goes lol.

Btw, has anyone tried using testosterone cream for their e.D. By chance?

Ok so the homeopathic 5% testosterone topical cream basically had no effect. My body just must be chemically different than it was last year when I used it and it caused me to have constant erections.

I just spent a solid 45 minutes masterbating and its the first time in 7 months i've even been able to bring myself to have an erection on my own and I ejaculated but I didn't have an orgasm. And it was very odd, fully erect i'm 8 7/8" but it has been so long since i've been able to actually have any release that my penis had actually shrunk to about 1 1/2" and was very rigid and once I started to get an erection it was almost shaped a little bit like an hour glass, it kind of tapered in in the center. And I had to sit there and watch the best porn I have twice and actually use lube which before I started having e.D. Problems I had never had to use lube. And I didn't start with the lube so when I got up to grab it I kept stroking in fear of losing the first erection i've had in 2 months and I took my hand of for about 15 seconds and it had gone completely flacid back to the rigid little thing it was when I started. And I was going all out too I think I have carpul-tunnel syndrome after that lol.

But has anyone here who has/had e.D. Had that sort of pheonomenan where your penis would actually sort of condense and be very very solid instead of soft and spongy?

Or has anyone had that sort of hourglass looking effect that I described where it tapers in all the way around? A good way to describe it is it was like there was a rubber band tight around my penis like half way.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm so fed up with this.

So I think my e.D. May have been stress/anxiety related after all. My girlfriend and I had an arguement when we were laying in bed and I ended up getting all this stuff out that was bothering me that didnt seem to important to me and I felt so much better after voicing my concerns and finding out they were unwarranted. The next morning first thing in the morning I woke up and we were kissing in bed and stuff and I started feeling some tingles and jingles if ya know what I mean, and we ended up having the best sex we've had yet. Then we went to this adult entertainment store and buying a vibrator, a huge bottle of lube (which is the reason we went there initially), and a penis ring. Using the first 2 on her and the last 1 on me all at the same time was well, extraordinary lol. With a full day of things to do we still ended up being intimate 4 times, for over 40 minutes each time, and with me actually ejaculating, then going another 10 minutes or so and ejaculating accompanying an orgasm. So needless to say it was rather messy but just thought i'd let you guys know that it all seems to have worked itself out!

Edit: if you're having ed problems with maintaining and not achieving an erection you may want to look into a rubber penis ring they do wonders and keep you from thinking about the possibility of going flaccid and, in my opinion, causes more sensativity.

You might want to be careful with that penis ring. If you can achieve erections without it, definitely don't do it. If you have trouble achieving erections look into providing your body what it needs to achieve and maintain erections. Testosterone, dht, cgmp, arginine, nitric oxide, choline, etc. Find a book (a book on ed natural solutions) that will teach you how to achieve the proper level of these in your body, usually done with just a few supplements such as protein and lecithin.

As for penis rings, you might want to look at this:

http://www.Fda.Gov/ora/fiars/ora_import_ia 7801.Html

quote:

"the use of penis enlargers and erection maintaining
rings may have harmful effects. They may aggravate
existing medical conditions such a pegronies
disease, priapism, and urethral stricture. They
may contuse or cause rupture of the subcutaneous
blood vessels, which may produce hemorrhage and
hematoma formation. Additionally, frequent use of
erection maintaining rings may result in ecchymosis
of the proximal portion of the penis and scrotum,
and the lymphatic stasis of the penis. Prolonged
use of the rings may cause gangrene of the penis."
