When all cardiologic examinations read
normal (ECG, echocardiography, and
stress-test), then the heart is excluded
as a possible cause for chest pain. Other
possible explanations of chest pain could
include muscle pain (myalgia), nerve pain
(neuralgia) or anxiety.
Myalgia is provoked by pressure from
outside the body, by physical activity of
the affected muscles (breathing) or by a
particular body position. Neuralgia can be
due to spondylosis (degenerative spine
disorder), spinal disorders (scoliosis,
lordosis, kifosis), etc. An orthopedist
can confirm or exclude the existence of
muscle or nerve pain.
Anxiety can manifest with various symptoms
including imitation of real disease. This
type of imitative adaption is called
"somatoform disorder". At your age (29),
anxiety often manifests with chest pain.
