My baby's heartbeat was 178 bpm. Is that normal and is the baby healthy?

it is normal. No one here can tell you if your baby is 'healthy'. Talk to your doctor about any concerns you have.

Yes 178 is a normal fetal heartbeat.

I thought it was normal but on my fifteen week visit it was 162 bpm.

The baby's heartbeat lowers as the pregnancy progresses. That would be why your baby's heartbeat was 162 at 15 weeks. That is normal also.

i have no doubt if it were 'abnormal' your doctor would have discussed it with you. Did you have an ulltrasound to know the heartbeat at 7 weeks?
