Hi, I am new to this forum and I hope some help can be found for my post stroke problem. I had a right side of the brain stroke which affected my left side sensory feelings. About 8 months after the stroke I began having serious sleep disorders. I have trouble initiating sleep and the quality is very poor. I have had 8 sleep studies done over the years and the conclusion is that I do not get any stage 3 & 4 sleep which leaves me extremely sleep deprived. I am wondering if the stroke could have damaged the sleep centre portion of my brain? I currently take 7.5mg of imovane to help me at night. I sure hope that someone can give me a solution to my sleep problem. Thanks in advance for any advice or solution.

I believe that your sleeping disorder is not caused by the stroke because the sleeping difficulties started 8 months after the stroke.

Zolpidem may be helpful for you.

Treating sleep disorder after brain stroke?
Good day,
my father had a brain stroke last December. The stoke was on the left side of his brain up to the centre. His right lembs are affected his hand more than his leg. He also suffers from parkinson. The lack of sleep is affecting his day time , doctor perscribe Zopiclane for him, but is it sutable for elder people, my father is in late sixties. Is there any effective non-medical therapy?

Thank you
