Group Strep B

The nurse called and said that I am not positive for group strep b. I am confused because I was positive when I was pregnant with my three year old. I thought once you have it, you always have it. I am very happy I don't have it, though. I am just confused.

I tried looking it up on the internet and couldn't find the answer.

From http://www.Groupbstrep.Org:

"should women who have had a previous gbs positive baby have more children?

Women who have had problems due to gbs in the past should inform their prenatal care provider and pediatrician. Gbs infections can be prevented and managed in subsequent pregnancies so that babies are protected and born healthy and free of gbs."

Thanks for that link.

I did not have a gbs baby, but I was positive for gbs and had antibiotics one hour before I delivered my three year old.

I still didn't see anything in that link stating that someone who is pregnant can be positive in one pregnancy and negative in the other or vise versa.

I am just wondering if the results are correct. This is very important in my situation because I promed (premature rupture of membranes) so early in pregnancy. Of course, we will never know if it's because I had a twin in a different sac or I just miraculously healed. If it was the latter, than I need to be concerned about the strep b because my baby was exposed and I wasn't given antibotics. Since I was just tested negative, they said there was no reason for antibotics. So, I am just confused....Again, I thought once you had it, you always do.

I will see my doctor next week and will ask her. I am sure she has answers but I am obsessing about it.
