I'm just about to start going on the pill, ortho tri-cyclin, but I heard that it's effectiveness can be altered if youre on other medications. I have a thyroid condition, and so I take levoxyl for it. Will my thyroid medicine make the birth control less effective?

Levoxyl shouldn't affect it. It's certain antibiotics--when you get prescribed an antibiotic it's a good idea to use backup protection. St. John's wort might also hinder the effectiveness of the pill. Everything else should be ok. I took a ton of antidepressants while on the pill without any problems for over 7 years.
