I am an 18 year old male with 15 approx small and very small stones in my healthy gallbladder. The ultrasound shows a healthy gallbladder except that I have all these small stones. I have been told to get it taken out. Any comments and/or advice for me? 5 other people in my family had this but the youngest was 30 and the oldest was 50. I am only 18! I had 2 painful attacks this month and saw md right away. He said take it out. Seeing a surgeon soon. Blood tests normal.

i had my gallbladder removed at age 17, in may 2006. The surgery isn't all that bad, the recovery time is excellent! They now make 4 incisions to remove it, but 3 out of the 4 are so small that I can't even see them anymore. The fourth one just looks like a scratch. I was told that it's pretty uncommon for a young adult to get stones in their gallbladder, but it's really not that big of a deal. You really should get it removed though, b/c eventually (if not already) you'll begin to have attacks.. Like I did, and they're no fun! Good luck.
