Q: How do you get a chlamydia infection?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 30th, 2007
Can you get chlamydia from genital contact with fresh infected semen/excrement/urine? Example being, someone using a public stall immediately before you who may be infected, and your genitals coming in contact with these substances. Also, is it possible to carry the infection unknowningly for years at a time? I have posted below and am extremely distraught as I try to find other alternatives to contracting this other then sexually. I am 100% on my wife's and I monogomy and am really losing my mind over this. Please help.

If the urethral opening on the top of your penis comes into direct contact with contaminated fresh sperm, vaginal secretion or urine you can get infected with Chlamydia. In the situation you’ve described”, a Chlamydia infection is possible but very rare. Chlamydia often shows no symptoms (30-50% of cases) and can be discovered accidentally. Either you or your wife has imported this Chlamydia infection in your relationship.
