Due to health insurance, i'm faced with the decision to either fork out $60 a month to continue using ortho tri-cyclen lo or switch to something my insurance covers. I suffer from migraines already - fortunately taking ortho tri-cyclen lo doesn't seem to have made them worse but i'm worried about switching brands because my insurance doesn't cover a brand that is low dose like what I currently have.

Does anyone have any advice/feedback on side effects and switching types of birth control pills? Anyone have experience with tri-levlen or tri-sprintec? Yasmin? Any low-dose generics you know of? Thanks!

I personally hated yasmin. I cramped the entire time and was a complete b*tch. It also made sex very painful because my cervical mucous was sticky all the time and my sex drive bottomed out completely. My husband definitely hated it. Now, no two people are alike but that is what I found out through my own experiences. I took seasonale and for a while I took a generic that had exactly the same stuff called portia. It seemed to work pretty well. Good luck!
