Hello,

not only am I new to this site, but i'm also new to wellbutrin xl. I hope someone out there can help me with my confusion.

My doctor decided to try me on wellbutrin xl because prozac, effexor, lexapro, lamictal, and celexa didn't help me. Some of them helped for a small period of time and some of them made me suicidal. I also gained weight with the others, which I didn't like. I actually need to lose at least 20 pounds. My doctor told me that wellbutrin could really help my depression and possibly help me to lose a few pounds too. So, I was really hoping that this time around, this new medication would work for me.

I've heard wonderful things about wellbutrin xl, but i'd like to know when i'll see some type of improvement. So far, i'm on 150 mg. I've been on that dose for about a week. I'm suppose to go up to 150 mg twice a day starting tomorrow. Well, the only thing i've felt so far from this drug is dry mouth, sleepiness during the day, and insomnia. I haven't lost any weight, I think i've gained 3 pounds (which really bothers me, because I can't afford to gain any more weight). My moods don't seem to be any better, I still feel the same (irritable, agitated, etc.). I've been told that it could take 2-4 weeks for the medication to kick in, and that most people do best on 300 mg a day.

Can anyone relate? I'd really like to hear from others that may have experienced what i'm experiencing early on with this drug, but has a good outcome.

Thanks!
