Poor finn is sick. I feel bad for him even though he's acting normal.

Yesterday morning he woke me up crying and I went to see what was up and he'd spit up. I wiped his face and moved him out of the wet spot and he went back to sleep. 15 minutes later he woke up screaming and was covered in (what I thought was) spit up. I bathed him and washed his bedding and we went about our day and he was fine, happy and smiley. His nap schedule was way off because of my new found sids paranoia though.

So last night he woke up from his nap at 7:30 and I was changing him when he started vomiting. He threw up twice and it was * a lot*, I bathed him and he fell asleep on me until we woke him up around 9:30. Nick went to change him and I heard him yelling for me frantically. I go in and he's covered in vomit, it's all over the floor, and he's holding finn awkwardly going "i don't know what to do! I don't know what to do!" while finn's practically choking. I was like "well, you could start by tipping him forward so he stops choking". I don't know why he was freaking out, it had already happened earlier that night. So once again, I cleaned him up.

Then I thought he might need some water because I didn't want him to get dehydrated. He's never had water and he was making the funniest faces then he gagged and threw up again. I seriously don't know where it was all coming from. Then on the way tp get cleaned up he threw up yet again.

Here's the grossest part... I was taking his temp rectally and the thermometer must've stimulated something because he started pooping and it was like green water. That's when I made nick call the doctor. Oh, and his temp was only 98.1.

So long vomit-y story short, they just told me to keep an eye in him and make sure he has 3-4 wet diapers in 24 hours. Since 7:30 last night (his last normal wet diaper) he's only had 1 wet diaper that only had a tiny bit of pee in it. I'm also supposed to give him pedialyte.

He seems fine now, he's sleeping in my arms which he never does. I was so nervous last night, I couldn't sleep. I stayed on the couch snuggling him until 2am then I gave in and went to bed. I put him in our room last night and put his pack n play right next to me. I was so afraid he'd throw up in his sleep and choke.

Wow, that turned out to be *long*. Sorry! It's just that it's the first time he's been sick and I don't like it!

Sounds like you are doing a great job. It can be so scary to have a sick little one.
Pedialite is great to help with dehydration!!!

Best of luck

Pedialyte is great for keeping babies hydrated although he doesn't sound to well right now.

Poor lil' honeybunkin.

Seriously though .B if he has always napped on his front and you check him regular, and there is nothing (i mean nothing) to block his airways and your mattress is breathable - i'd leave him be.

I hate this idea of babies sleeping on their backs because they run such a risk of choking on spit up or vomit. - just my personal opinion. Do what works for you and our baby and just exercise common sense (of which I know you have plenty).

Hope he feels better soon. Crying or Very sad

Thanks girls. I think he's feeling better today. He hasn't thrown up since last night and I just gave him some pedialyte, which was pretty funny. He's never had anything but formula so he kept making these disgusted faces but I got him to drink 3oz. He's not normally a snuggler so I knew he wasn't feeling great last night because he slept on me for hours and he took a short nap on me earlier today. I'm guessing/hoping it was just a 24 hour thing.

There's that nasty gastro going around, maybe he caught a touch of it poor lil dude. It's so scary when they get sick so young. I'm glad he's feeling better and drinking the pedialyte! (trey takes a sip of the stuff and let's it's dribble out his mouth while saying caca- Rolling Eyes Laughing )

hope it was just a 24 hour thing.

I find a lot of babies/kids don't like pedialyte, but it's worth a try.

I hate when babies are sick! They can't tell you how they're feeling Sad . It's so sad!

Get better .Finn sweetie!

Thanks everyone. He seems ok, no throwing up today though we did just have an incident where he pooped water and leaked all over me and himself. He's had so many baths these past 2 days, i'd say he's the cleanest boy in town if not for all the bodily fluids. I just feel so bad for him even though he doesn't seem phased, he's pooping water and smiling like a crazy person.

The joys of motherhood!

As long as he's smiling and not acting lathargic, he's cool!!! They could care less about the poop! They know that we have to clean it up!

Give him so love from me and .Amelia. We know how it feels both momma and baby. Take extra care of him during this time. (not that you always do anyway.)

Aww that sucks, joseph was sick like that at 8mths old , he would throw up all his formula. And he would lay on my dad and not move. I watched him but after 2 days of not keepin anything down itook him to the dr they sent us straight to the hospital, he was on iv fluids and they tested his poop turned out he had rotavirus. He was even throwin up pedialyte, we even tried the jello kind. Hopefully finn doesnt have rotavirus that can be bad in lil ones. They get dehyrdated fast. And the hospital is no fun either. I didnt watch when they stuck him with the iv
