Q: Birth Certificate Question

Mommies: how long after the birth did you receive your baby's birth certificate?

.Alyvia is 5 1/2 months old and I still haven't received hers. It didn't occur to me until today, when my stepmom called asking for a copy. So I had to call the hospital's records department and leave my name and number. I'm waiting on a call back now. How incredibly' annoying.

Shlllllllt.. Here in florida, you dont automatically get one.

You have to wait til the baby is a month old and go pay for one.

$12.00!

Here too, it's up to you to go and get one for your kid. They're 15$ or 35$ if you want it within 2 days.

It's different everywhere.

When I was still in the hospital a woman came in and took all our info then came back the next day and gave us a completed form. The day after we got home nick took it to the town hall and I think it was like $10 and he got it right then and there.

you know, that sounds familiar? A lady did come in and have me fill out some stuff. She brought it back all typed up and I corrected a few things, and she came back again with an official-looking document. But I was pretty sure she said the hospital files for all of that. I know for sure they said they send off for the social security card (i remember asking about that) and I was pretty sure she said the same about the birth certificate. But... Hmm, I might go digging through our documents from the hospital. Thank .God I kept everything. I'll be soooo irritated if .I've had the stuff to go get the certificate all this time. Evil or

They told me mine would come in the mail soon after her solcial security card.

Hell, I don't know. I can always go get her one, I guess.

.I was sure that's what they told me too. Her social security card came just a couple of weeks after she was born. I remember getting so excited and telling .Aaron "look! Look! The baby has mail!" and I did the same thing when her .Medicaid card came in. I loved seeing her name printed on envelopes, like it made her a "real" person instead of a moving critter in my belly.

But nope, no birth certificate yet! Evil or

*scoff*

so I got a call back from the records office. She said if I received .Alyvia's ss card, then everything is fine. All paperwork goes through .New .Orleans, which of course has been effed up by .Katrina, so the certificates are being mailed anywhere from 6-9 months after the birth.

*sigh* dumb hurricanes

yeah well when I had joseph I didnt get one till he was about 5 mths old but I didnt bother paying for the one I applied for at the hospital. Because me and hubby were planning on getting married so I waited till we got married because I had to change the name on the birth certificate. My parents were a little mad at him before and wouldnt let him put his name on the birth certificate but now hes there fave son in law lol/
12 aint nothing lmao we have to pay $65!!!!!!!!! For jordynnes here. Well we got the german one that cost 5 euro but for the american one its $65 and we gotta fill otu all this paperwork and get her a passport wich is free its a government passport but still expensive
