Hello, I am hopeing someone out there can please help me. My sister had a new baby 3 months ago, she has noticed that when the baby gose to the bathroom to do the number 2 she screams and crys everytime and it is not hard after she is frinshed. It is like the baby is in pain and after she is frinshed she is fine. She has taken her to see 2 doctors and they both told her the same thing give her white grape juice. She has been doing that and it is not helping at all. She is going to call more dr and see if anyone else will look at the baby she is really worried about the baby. She said she looked down there and the baby butt hole is very very small. Dose anyone out there know what might be going on with the baby. The 2 dr she did take the baby to never once looked at her down there where she gose to the bathroom they just pushed on her stomache and told her to give her the white grape juice. The baby is 3 and half months old. As soon as she drinks her bottle she gose to the bathroom right after that. That happens everytime no matter what time it is right after she gets frinshed drinking her bottle she gose to the bathroom. Please help me. Is this normal for the baby to do this thank you
cindy

The skin around the anus is very elastic and doesn't really matter how small it is....it's going to look especially small on a little baby. The problem is not where you think it is, but farther up in her intestines. Even diarrhea can be a sign of constipation, because there is blockage farther up and only more liquid substances can pass through. The grape juice will help with the constipation and gas. Gas also is a sign of constipation.

You can also try gripe water and prune juice and see if that is more effective.

If the baby is not breastfeeding, try switching to a formula that is lower in iron.
