Q: What causes pinched nerves?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 25th, 2007
I gave birth 12 months ago to my first and ever since I have been getting pinched nerves. They have become more and more regular lasting a few hours to a couple of day. I can now expect them twice a week. Either from bending over to pick up baby, my sleeping, etc.
Is there anything I can do myself, exercise or diet wise to help. And what is causing them, am I lacking something.

Please advise!

Back Pain Answer A2231
The back pain you are experiencing could be due to pinched nerves but you'll need a few examinations to idneitfy the exact cause. Spinal disorders (scoliosis, lordosis kifosis), and degenerative changes (osteophytes, spondylosis and disc herniations) can pinch the spinal nerves’ roots and cause pain. First, you'll need a physical examination and an X-ray image of the vertebral column. You can visit an orthopedist to seek help with the examinations and to continue to follow this condition.
