Joseph has really bad diaper rash, it like appeared out of nowhere last night , he had a diarrhea diaper yesterday and right after is when the rash appeared. Its soo red and it hurts him to touch it at all. Today though when I was tryin to wipe him a couple lil spots he skin broke only teeny spots, but ugh any site says diaper rash is no big deal and to wait 72 hrs or a week even . Right now hes diaperless to let him air out. Hes been sooo cranky. Ive been using desitin but hes stil uncomfy. I have a &d ointment and vaseline for babies at the huose dunno if those would help more then desitin. I dont know if we sell like triple paste or whatnot here I got that in fla its like 12 bucks and medicated it works unless its really bad like wha the had with rotavirus I ended up getting nystatin cream but thats after the rash didnt go away after a week and he was 8 mths old. It looks like anormal rash right nwo besides the tiny lil spots where his skin got rubbed. It doesnt look like the yeast rashes ive seen pics of online so hmm I hope it goes away soon Sad

Diaper rash is common following/during diarrhea.

Letting him air out is a great idea.
We don't have desitin or stuff like that here but we do have "zinc cream" marketed in the uk as "sudacrem".

Just use a gentle baby wash on him and keep him clean/dry and he'll be fine in no time.

ya hes walkin around naked, was about to put a diaper on him then he peed on the floor lol. Some people say a and d works really well so I gotta go search my room for it. Or it might be in a diaper bag and try it on his butt, I dont think ive ever used that on a diaper rash hes had. We got it when he got circumsized a couple weeks ago. So eh I wonder if that works good>?

We don't have a&d or desitin so I can't say - I know a lot of girls on here do use them though.

ya im sure the stuff you got there they have on the german economy though. But I dont know what a drugstore is called in german lmao. I think a & d doesnt contain the zinc. Im not sure its not soo creamy and its a cear/yellow color not white paste. It helps prevent and treat rashes and protect skin you can use it for cuts and burns to help sooth them as well. So eh I guess its good for a few things lol

Kaylee had an awful diaper rash a few weeks after she was born because of the formula she was on & the doc told us to get .Lotrimin (its an antifungal cream) & .Hydrocotrisone cream (both you can find at walmart or just about any store I think). We were suppose to put a light layer of the lotrimin on & the get a little dab of the hydrocortisole (it can burn the baby if you use too much) & rub it into the lotrimin. It worked awesome for us, don't know if you have those things over there though.

Experienced User , Rather EHEALTHy
For .Tre the desitin and those other ointments worked for preventing diaper rash....But if he already had a rash they only made it worse because the ointment was very thick and kept the area moist....So I used a powder called caldisene (sp?) the powder was very good for drying it out and healing it. But the most important thing that was already said was let air get to it and keep the area dry.....Meaning you will have alot of oops to clean up.

A&d works for us. He's had a couple of instances of irritated bum (from trying different brands of diapers!!!) a&d cleared it right up w/in a day or so.

Edited bcuz I forgot to add that you need to pat the bum dry with a cloth before putting on the a&d! That stuff is awesome! If it works to keep tattoos from getting infected diaper rash doesn't stand a chance!

Mixing a little bit of maalox with his diaper rash cream might help too

You can also put baking soda or corn starch in his bath tub!!!!! It will lessen the redness almost instantly!!!

Some of the stuff I havent heard of like powder on it or mixing maalox, and the baking soda ill have to try it. Some lady told me that u can use alil bit of that dreft washing powder for baby clothes in the bath and it helps, she said her pediatrician told her it and she tried it. But eh I have never heard of it. Dont know if any of you have.It doesnt seem to bother him as much with the a&d ointment on it , hopefully its still not really red, I gave hima bath earlier. I always just buy the creams but ive never had a problem usualy desitin works right away but eh hopefully one of those things work. Otherwise it might be yeast but right now it doesnt look like that. I dont see why they dont just sell nystatin over the counter lol that stuff works really good.

that can cause the child to inhale the powder and infect the respitory system.

I would tell your friend to stop...

I think it depends on the age of the kid, I never liked using powder on them when they are like newborn and really little but not so much a bother when they are older like josephs age. Depends how ya put it on too. I wouldnt try and squirt the powder right out onto their bottom or it wil end up in there face ya know.I got so much baby powder now lol and I dont really use the stuff.

Nooooooooooooo

when you squirt it is when you get dust.
If you use powder either srpinkle a tiny bit in your hand (away from baby) and then rub it on with your hand or put some powder in a sock and gently pat it on baby's butt.

Believe it or not it really helps stop the dust Wink

It reduces the dust...That you can *see*!!!

We alllll know about the thiny things called microparticles. They cannot be seen with the human eye. Similar to some pollens.

Reguardless, it gets in their lungs.
I mean, do what ya do. I used it at one time.
But when .Oni's Dr. Saw it, he liked to have a heart attack!!

A&d or vaseline has the *same*, if not *better*, effect of powder.

Edited to add: i'm from the .South. Believe me, I was raised knowing that to reduce rash, use cornstarch. I was alll about the powder!! Until I learned how badly it could affect your baba.
It could cause pneumonia or respitory failure if inhaled. Period.
There's no going back once they have pneumonia.
