I am 30 yrs old. I am a married mom of 2
children ages 10 and 3. I started having
pain under my right rib cage when my
youngest was 4 months old. It was like a
burning every 3 second pain, but would go
away here and there. It seemed I would
only get that pain when I smoked
ciggarettes. It wasn't so bad at first,
now almost 3 yrs later it is bad everyday.
Pain under right rib cage or under it.
Sometimes right next to my belly button on
the right side to the side of my waist.
Sometimes it is only where my kidney would
be in the back. That pain is a dull ache
that is constant at times. It is no
longer a burning pain like when it first
started, it is a stabbing pain at times
and a constant pain. If I sit indian
style and bend foward a little it hurts
under my rib cage as if something is
pressing against something swollen. One
time the pain was so bad under my rib cage
that I held my ribcage on right side and
fell to the ground on knees, when I
breathed in it hurt too where the rib cage
is. That was the time when it was the
worst. I am thinking it happend cause I
was on the phone and under stress. I had
a dream last night that someone put a stun
gun to my rib cage on right side for along
time, when I woke up I knew I was in pain
in my sleep and that is why I had that
dream.
I have had blood work done, an ultrasound
of my whole right area includeing my gull
bladder area done, I have had an ex ray
done, all showed nothing abnormal. The
doc said all normal, except a very
slightly raised cholestoral but he said
nothing to worry about.
I am in pain everyday of my life. It is
starting to concern me alot. I wonder
what if it is something they just can 't
find and it doesn't get caught in time, I
have 2 kids I want to raise. I know I am
being a little paranoid but I have never
experienced constant pain like this
before.
Please give me some advice? Should I ask
for a mri or ct scan of the area? It is
starting to make me feel as if I can't do
all the things I want to do. I get
stomach pain as well sometimes, like sharp
stabing pains in my actual stomach. The
doc gave me pepcid ac to take 2 times a
day, I did for along time, but made my
pain worse, finnally I quit taking it and
although I still have pain at times in the
stomach sach area, it is not as bad to
where I hve to hold my stomach. I don't
know what else to do? Please write soon.
Thank you for your time.
Given the description of the pain you are
experiencing (a stabbing pain under the
right ribcage accompanied by stomach
pains), your previous medical examinations
(nothing indicated on the ultrasound-scan
and blood work), you may need to request a
gastroscopy to exclude stomach or duodenum
disorders such as a peptic ulcer. You can
also request laboratory analyses for
Helicobacter pillory. You can consult an
internist to follow up.
