Q: Question Regarding Blood In Semen

Hey

i'm 18 and have never had any health problems whatsoever. Exactly 24 days ago I became sick and immediately noticed a bit of a swelling in my prostate. The sickness went away a week later and the swelling has been reduced somewhat ever since, but during masterbation I still have blood in my semen

is this serious? What could this be and if its not serious what can I do to get rid of it?

Although blood in semen may look alarming, it actually isn't usually anything serious, and it usually goes away on its own. It can be caused by infections in the male reproductive tract, which might be what you had. It can be caused by other things too though. It would be a good idea to see a doctor about it since blood in semen, while not usually serious, can occasionally be a sign of a bigger problem. I think this site does a nice job of summing it up:
