i am 32. lately feel like 52. any effects from the drugs so far? any lasting effects from the soution?

$HIET TELL ME ABOUT IT, I FEEL THE SAME WAY. I DONT REALLY HAVE ANY EFFECTS FROM YESTERDAYS IV AND OTHER SOLUTIONS THEY INSERTED, BUT I DO HAVE A SLIGHT HEADACHE. NOT BAD ENOUGH 2 TAKE A TYLENOL. ALL GOOD. WITH THE PRESCRIPTION DRUG, I DIDNT TAKE IT YET, IM GOING 2 WAIT TIL I PICK UP MY OTHER MED FROM THE PHARMACY. I WANT 2 DO A LITTLE MORE RESEARCH ON THE DRUG, AND GET MORE INFO FROM MY PHARMISIST BEFORE TAKING THEM. I WANT 2 HAVE A BETTER IDEA OF HOW IT CAN HELP AND WHAT ARE THE LONG TERM EFFECTS. I DONT WANT 2 HAVE 2 DEPEND ON THAT caca. I DONT WANT 2 JUST TAKE THEM, JUST BECUZ THAT OLD GASTRO SPECIALIST PRESCRIBED THEM 2 ME. WITH THE COYLTE PREP, I DIDNT HAVE ANY LASTING EFFECTS WITH PASSING ANY YELLOW LIQUID B/M. THE LAST B/M I HAD LIKE THAT WAS YESTERDAY BEFORE MY COLONOSCOPY. MY BOWELS FELT COMPLETELY EMPTY AFTER YESTERDAYS PROCEDURE AND LAST NIGHT. YESTERDAYS EARLY MORNING AND THE DAY OF THE PREP, I ALSO NOTICED WHENEVER I WAS DONE HAVING ALL MY SOLID FECES OUT AND THEN WHEN IT CAME 2 JUST PASSING LIQUID, I NOTICED THAT I HAD A FEELING LIKE THERE WAS A BLOCKAGE LIKE THERE WAS STILL HARD FECES LEFT INSIDE, BUT THERE WAS NOTHING LIKE THAT LEFT BEHIND JUST LIQUID OR NOTHING AT THE TIME BEING. IT FELT LIKE SOMETHING WAS IN THE WAY. ITS WEIRD. I MENTIONED IT 2 THE SPECIALIST, HE DIDNT MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT NO BLOCKAGE. AS 4 2DAY MY B/M IS VERY TINY LIKE YOU KNOW THE CANDY WHOPPERS,BUT A LITTLE SMALLER. I HAD A COUPLE OF THOSE AND I COULDNT GO ANY MORE AFTER THAT EVEN THOUGH MY BOWELS STILL DONT FEEL EMPTY AT THE MOMENT. ITS SO UNCOMFORTABLE HAVING THAT FEELING LIKE THERE SOMETHING STUCK IN YOUR A$$ LIKE THERES SOMETHING IN THE WAY 2 BE EXACT.

Saw my GI guy yesterday. He doesn't know anything. Basically said I have IBS. He prescribed me Nulev - an anticholi....(something). I think similar to what you got. I asked him about the drug you were prescribed and he said he didn't prescribe that one anymore because he felt it wasn't ever effective. The Nulev I take every 6 hours and it dissolves in my mouth. It is an antispasmadic and is supposed to help with the pain in my sides but so far hasn't. It may help with the BMs which I will find out, but the sharp pain in my side that I can locate is still there. It is still early so we will see. He mentioned we could try the drug Zelnor (I think) but that it is really a chick drug so it might not work. Will let you know how it goes. Any word on your drugs?

CALLED THE PHARMACY REGARDING MY SECOND PRESCRIPTION AND THEY TOLD ME I HAVE 2 WAIT 4 A APPROVAL FROM MY INSURANCE BECUZ THIS DRUG IS NOT COVERED. SO MY GASTRO HAS 2 SEND A REQUEST 2 THEM. ILL FIND OUT BY MONDAY FROM THE PHARMACY. SO YOUR DOC SAID THE FIRST MED THAT IM SUPPOSED 2 TAKE IS EFFORTLESS. IM NOT REALLY CONFIDENT WITH THAT GASTRO SPECIALIST AS WELL. HES PRETTY OLD, AND IM PRETTY F-IN ANGRY AT HIM BECUZ HES THE ONE WHO MENTIONED I WILL BE COMPLETELY SLEEPING DURING MY COLONOSCOPY. F-IN GUY. ILL MENTION IT 2 HIM ON MY FOLLOW UP IN A MONTH. THATS GOOD 2 KNOW, IMA ASK MY PHARMIST IF IT EVEN WORKS. I READ SOME OF THE SIDE EFFECT FROM THE PIECE OF INFO-PAPER THEY GAVE ME AND ITS PRETTY UGLY. I STILL KEEPING THINKING AS WELL HOW BAD MY COLONOSCOPY TURNED OUT. I NEVER WANT 2 GO THROUGH SOMETHING LIKE THAT EVER, EVER. I FEEL A BIT TRAUMATIZED. i took one dose yesterday and haven't had another dose yet. the only side effects of what i have are dry mouth - which seems to be true and drowsiness - which also seemed to be true. but i was kinda tired already when i took it so i'll need to see if that side effect is real. while i felt it didn't help my side pain i will say that i did have a normal bm today. it could have been because the antispasmadic or it could have just been because of the fiber i've had in the last day or so. it's hard to tell. after the bm the pain in my left side seems to have subsided - but will need to monitor. It could just be a coincidence. Without getting too graphic, my bm today was fuller/bulkier and is similar to my bm's when taking equalactin or eating tons of fiber. That is good but the most noticable part was the length. Even when eating fiber or taking equalactin the stool is often short - anywhere from 5 to 7 or 8 inches. Sometimes I even go twice within the span of a couple hours. Today was long though. If that means that the stool that should come out has come out because of the drug and the pain then goes away then that's great. I'm not going to get too excited just yet though.

Although my doc didn't like the drug u have I would give it a chance. Who knows.

what part of the country are you in? you should be able to find a place that will knock u out during a colonoscopy.

ABOUT THE MEDZ, I DIDNT TAKE THE 1ST ONE, I GAVE IT TO THE RECEPTIONIST AT THE GASTRO OFFICE AND THE SECOND MED I PICKED UP LAST WEEK WAS CALLED ZELNORM 6MG WHICH IM SUPPOSED TO BREAK IN HALF AND TAKE 3 TIMES A DAY. I WAS GIVEN A COUPLE OF SAMPLES 2 TRY OUT FIRST. I DIDNT START TAKING THEM YET.IM NOT SURE IF IM GOING 2 USE THEM. AS FOR MY B/M IT HAS BEEN CHANGING UP A BIT, FROM NARROW 2 LITTLE MORE FULLER, NOT SO CONSTIPATED 2. MY ABDOMEN DOESNT FEEL AS DISTENDED AS OF RITE NOW. HOW R YOUR MEDZ WORKING??? i am taking Nulev which is an anti spasm drug for the intestines. It doesn't seem to be doing very much. BMs still erratic and most of the time not full unless I eat tons of fiber. Seems like if I want to have normal Bms I am going to need to eat fiber all the time. Still haven't figured out the pain in my sides.

So why have your BMs changed if you haven't been taking any of the meds? Zelnor is the IBS drug on the market for women. My GI guy said that he wouldn't prescribe it to me because it only works for chicks. I'm surprised your doc prescribed it for you.

I see it's been awhile since anyone has added to this thread. My problems actually first started about the time this thread seemed to die. For that reason I'm hoping maybe one of you has come across something new in the way of diagnosis.

I have the same narrow stools. I had a colonoscopy about three months ago. After that showed nothing my doc decided it must be IBS (a lame catch all for "we don't know what you have"). Since then however he has prescribed me with several medications intended to treat IBS with zero effect. Strangely enough the only treatment I have found thus far is to induce diarreah by drinking a lot of certain types of fruit juice (apple, white grape).

I also have a discomfort, bordering on pain, just inside my rectum. Sometimes it feels as if I have to hold my intestines up with a sort of pulling with my abdomen muscles (hard to explain in words... almost like I'm sucking in my gut, litterally). This has made me consider some sort of prolapse or interccuption (sp?) to be the cause of my pain/narrow stool.

Has anyone had any more luck diagnosing and treating their disorder?

I've had the same problems as the both of you above and was diagnosed with a hernia which was confirmed with an ultrasound. My hernia actually has dropped into my testicular sack and they said that this is what has caused my bm problems with not feeling like I'm getting everything out and small stools. I'm having surgery a month from now after my wedding and hopefully it will clear it up because you really take for granted a good bowel movement. For the two who still have pain there I'm surprised it isn't a hernia as I've had the same sypmtoms so maybe it is there and your testies or penis is blocking it.
