Hey wsup. I have been experiencing alot of stomach problems to lately. I noticed that my s-problem started after I was lifting some heavy weights on a bench press where I was constantly straining. As the days progressed, I was having alot of nausea coming from my abdomen and I was passing very tiny stools which took along time to come out and my abdomen was getting very distended/bloated. Also, I was having a very hard time passing gas as well. I never experienced anything like this in my life. I got checked out by a doctor and they didnt find and unusual bumps,lumps, or bulges protruding out of my body anywhere in that area. So they dismissed having a hernia, but they did do a xray on my abdomen and noticed thru the xray that my body is fully flooded/covered up with feces. I was given some laxatives, but my stomach still does not feel that right. I was wondering what is a bilateral inguinal hernia. Do you have any bulges protruding out of your body? How did the docz discover your hernias. Is there pain where your hernias are located. What are your symtoms like? I have been in alot of discomfort with my abdomen/testicle area lately, but it seems like the doctor is missed seeing somethimg in that area. It would be greatly appreciated. Alrite.

When I first went to get my hernia checked out I went to a urologist who couldn't locate the hernia. I then went to a general surgeon who found the hernia by pushing a bit harder down there. Not only did he find one but he found another on the other side (i.E., left side and right side). I now have strange stomach problems (bloating, gas, feeling as if I have not had a complete bm) and I am also having pain from the hernias (i think anyway). For a while everything I was experiencing might not count since the urologist put me on levaquin for what he thought was some type of bacterial infection in my plumbing). After some research on levaquin I found out that it causes many severe side effects and it seemed like it could raise some hell. I was also on an anti inflammatory and tylenol #3/codine. Tylenol #3/codine causes constipation and levaquin can cause diahrea and stomach pains. I have since long stopped both meds and still have the stomach issues. For a while I was having thin stools but some fiber capsules and stopping the meds seems to have helped.

My hernia pain is in 3 main spots - the testicles (sore and sensitive from time to time), diagonally up from my testicles right under my waist on both sides, and ocassionally in my flanks under my rib cage on both sides.

So now I have a combo of stomach and hernia pains (i think) and it's driving me nuts.

Anyway if I were you (and I basically am) I would go see a hernia specialist (general surgeon) that might be able to locate the hernia better than just a gp or non specialist.

Can you explain your condition? You had impacted feces? Why?

About the impacted feces, I never ever experienced something like this in my whole life, or even being so constipated these couple days, and not being able to pass gas. I never had this problem. Just this past jan 13, I mentioned I hit some weights on a incline bench press, something fairly heavy for myself. During that whole time trying to workout I was straining alot. I noticed my testicle area/anal area started to feel real heavy with an awful discomfort feeling. Hard to pin point the area where its coming from. I also had some nausea feeling like its coming from my abdomen, rite above my bellybutton. No pain though, just discomfort. By the 18th of jan, I am still feeling the discomfort in my testicle region and slight burning in my abdomen. As the days kept progressing I notice I am passing small amounts in my bowel. The days keep passing and its getting smaller and smaller with alot of time waiting on the toilet just for it to pass. By this time, I am straining somewhat, not to the point where im gonna do some damage. It would be mushy and my bowel movement did not feel complete. I know there was a whole lot left over inside me. It just wouldnt come out. By this time my gas in my body didnt even wanna come out either. My abdomen was extremely bloated distending so far out looking like I was 4months pregnant. The next day I found out thru the xray my whole body was full of feces. I was given laxatives and I used some of them for two days and I did a whole lot of $h*ttin water, like I was pissing , but from my butt hole. My body still does not feel right and I do not wanna use any more laxatives becuz of the h*ll I went through early this morning. Getting up every hour poopin out liquid for about ten times the whole night. My stomach is all bad. I did notice my abdomen going way down a whole lot in the morning. I lost about 4 pounds. My bowel movement problem still doesnt feel right. Something isnt functioning properly obviously.It does not feel complete, like theres a blockage somewhere. For the why part, I cant tell you whats the cause. Its driving me nuts, feeling like this. With your hernia, does it pop out? Is it noticable?What kind of pain do you get with your hernias? How did you get them? Does it hurt when you sneeze,cough,lift things? Can you piss ok? Can you see them on xrays. What do you do when you get all bloated in your abdomen? How is your b-movement like? Do you have heartburn,too? I was reading some stuff on the net and they said inginuel hernias(spell check) can cause problems with bowel movements if there is a blockage or obstruction. Wuttup loaks9999, where you at??? I left my response with a couple of ??? 4 ya. When you get a chance, write back. As for myself im still having problems with my b/m. Is your hernia giving you b/m difficulties, or did it get better even in regards of having a ing-hernia.

Sorry have been busy. Well I went for a 2nd opinion on the hernia and the 2nd opinion doc told me that I don't have a hernia. Confused, I asked for a ct scan which he wrote a prescription for. Had a pelvic and abdominal ct scan and it came back negative for any hernia but did come back positive for mild diverticulosis. My gi doc has now scheduled me for a colonostopy. My urologist has now ruled out any urological problems but says that any pain in my testicle is just there and I will need to deal with it. Something about my epididimous bothering me. So the urological thing is now over. I believe that I have some kind of hernia just not a visible tear in the ct scan because the one doc claimed he found 2. But maybe i'm wrong. My pain now is sometimes pain in my left testicle at the top, flank pain on both sides that I can locate with my fingers, and occasianal pinching pain at the top corners of my pelvis. I think the urologist might be right about the testicle thing, maybe some fluid or whatever causing me problems in the testicle. Like I said I think there might be something there with the hernia but it is obviously not significant enough to cause my stomach pains. Finally the flank and lower abdominal pain (left and right sides) is up in the air. My gi said that diverticulosis doesn't usually show symptoms until it becomes diverticulitus - which is the flare up of diverticlula. In addition to the pains i'm still having my bms are very erratic still. Sometimes constipated, sometimes thin stools, and sometimes having 3 bms a day. I've noticed that fiber and water will cause softer, fuller, and longer stool but the abdominal pains and multiple bms are not stopping. I have also noticed that I usually have a normal/semi normal bm and then maybe an hour later I have another but the stool is thin. Also when trying to have it I can feel pain/pressure in my lower abdomen/upper pelvis. It is really annoying and I don't know what is up. So far the positive thing is the negative pv ultrasound and neg abdominal/pelvic ct scan. I don't know how much that can rule out but I assume it can rule out masses and tumors but maybe not polyps or some other intestinal disorder.

As for your questions, the initial event that led to me thinking I had a hernia was a pain that went from my testicle up my side, followed by pain in the top of my pelvis for several days on the corners. Any other pain symptoms I can't say because apparently, I do not have a hernia. I dont think hernias can cause pain with pissing and only obstruct bowels when they are really bad - strangulated is the term or something. I have no bulge or popping out. You can see them on ct scans apparently - can't say on an xray. I answered the bm questions in my previous post and yes I do feel bloated as well. In any case, my abdominal pain and bm problems all seemed to start after the hernia event and a mix of 3 drugs from my urologist (levaquin, mobic, and tylenol 3/codene - all of which can screw up your bms apparently). I have been off the drugs for a while now and apparently don't have a hernia so I am at a loss. Maybe the colonoscopy will show something more. I don't know if it is good or bad if it does.

My b/m is still acting very funny. My abdomen still gets distended even when I didnt eat.. Its like a full feeling. I dont like taking laxz becuz I dont want my body getting immune 2 that stuff. I have been eating a whole lot of fiber such as prunes, yogurt, prune juice, etc. For some time now. Not much help. I still have the constipation and when I do poop, its very little ,skinny, and soft all the time. Most of the time my bowels dont feel complete afterwards, so I use the toilet like 3 to 4 times 2 poop. I got a appt. With my doc this week and im going 2 ask him to see a gastro specialist. My b/m, discomfort on my left lower qaudrant & not being able 2 pass gass has been going on 4 three weeks already, I need 2 see whats causing this problem. Let me know how your colonoscopy goes when you get it.

Just had a colonoscopy today. The prep and post is way worse than the actual test. Prep involves drinking a nasty solution that cleans you out and gives you endless diahrea, plus you can't really eat anything. The test was basically getting a needle stuck in my arm and waking up 1 second later completely done. No pain, no time involved (at least when you are knocked out), no problem. Still have the runs now - sucks. Results were ok but they did remove 1 polyp apparently. It is apparently nothing - was very small and my doc said not to worry at all - so I will assume he is correct. He said it would not be responsible for the abdomen pain or bowel changes so it seems like I am headed towards and ibs diagnosis...We'll see. I am still going to pursue the hernia diagnosis again with the original diagnosing doc and may also look into some other possible explanations like muscle pulls or sports hernia.

As for the bms they are pretty much the same as before except for right now because of the lasting effects of the solution. Still thin and not as regular as before. Also stomach pains still exist. Hope I can find a solution soon.

RITE ON FOR THAT EXPLANATION. I WILL BE GETTING A COLONOSCOPY AS WELL THIS MARCH 1. NOT REALLY THAT NERVOUS THOUGH BECAUSE IM GOING 2 BE PUT TO SLEEP AS WELL. YOUR EXPLANATION GAVE ME A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT ITS GONNA BE LIKE. AS OF RITE NOW, MY BOWEL MOVEMENT IS VERY NARROW AND SMALL STILL, MY B/M DONT FEEL COMPLETE AFTER I USE THE RESTROOM EACH TIME. ALSO, MY LOWER ABDOMEN STILL DECENDS AND I HAVE PAIN IN MY LOWER LEFT QAUDRANT. HOW LONG DID YOUR COLONOSCOPY PROCEDURE TAKE? ANY ADVICE 4 MY COLONOSCOPY IS WELCOME. ALRITE MAN, TAKE IT EAZY.

No more advice for the colonoscopy. Just that it's nothing and the worst part is the prep. I would want the doc to prescribe the solution to drink over a self administered enema and i would also ask to be totally out during the exam. I have heard that sometimes people have some consciousness - i would prefer to be out cold. Other than that it's no big deal.

As for your stools I currently use something over the counter called Equalactin. It is some kind of charcoal based tablet that you chew and it helps you have normal BMs. It does make you go but the abdomen pain is still there for me.

If you find out any answers from your doc as you sound like you have something similar I would like to hear. Do you have Flank pain caused by constipation or trapped gas? Flank pain being pain in the right and left sides under your ribs in the front? I have this pain along with the BM problems.

MY PAIN IS ON MY LOWER LEFT SIDE, 2 BE EXACT ABOUT 1/2 INCH BELOW MY BELLY BUTTON, BUT ON MY LEFT SIDE. I HAVE IT EVEN WHEN IM NOT CONSTIPATED AND NOT SURE IF ITS TRAPPED GAS OR WHAT. IM GOING 2 HAVE 2 DRINK THAT LIQUID IN THAT BIG BOTTLE EVERY 15MIN TIL ITS GONE, I BELIEVE. IM KIND OF NERVOUS NOW, I DONT WANT 2 BE SOME WHAT AWAKE DURING THAT PROCEDURE. So your pain is in the flank under the left rib is that correct or is it closer to the middle? My pain is in the left and right flanks and it comes and goes between both but is always present on at least one side. I can basically locate the pain with my finger and push on it - although the exact location of the pain can change within the a few inch radius on both sides. Finally I can't seem to figure out if the pain is related to my GI tract. I can't say that a BM relieves the pain. I can say that I am having BM problems but can't say the pain in my sides is related. I am curious if the pain is muscular or nerve related or referred from a budding hernia. Curious if your pain is the same kind.

I feel that I have either a small hernia that is causing pain or IBS or diverticulosis. The radiologist said I had mild diverticulosis but my GI guy said that wouldn't cause pain or symptoms. My uroligist said that a small hernia or hernias wouldn't cause pain and defintely wouldn't cause occasional testicle pain. My GI guy doesn't answer many of my questions. He seems like he just wants to get me on the calendar so he can give me 4 minutes of his time and send me off or make money off of me. I am getting frustrated. So far my symptoms are change in BM, flank pains, occasional pain in the genitals. It all started from a sudden pain in the balls and up my side during sex. After thinking I had some kind of hernia it seems to have turned into IBS or some intestinal thing. I don't know what to do or think.

As far as the solution I know it was called Half Lytely. Not sure of how much but probably the size of a large gatorade bottle or something. I think I used the cherry flavor pack but it wouldn't have tasted any different if I used the urine flavor pack...it was disgusting. Best description I've read is that it tasted like sweat. Kicked in about 1 hour after I started, although I could feel something going on about 30 minutes in. Once you get started you go until clear comes out (or at least yellow). I would say I went 12-15 times that night. It's not painful like diahrea though, you're not passing stomach acids so it doesn't hurt. Hardest part is sleeping afterwards and not eating until after your exam. The loose bowels continued for a day after the exam for me as well. Don't drink after the exam for at least a couple days if you do. I made the mistake of having a few drinks one day after the test with some friends and I think the solution was still in me and didn't care for alcohol. It wasn't fun.

I did have an IV and I was out. The nurse told me that I would be aware but I wasn't. I have heard that some of the sedatives will keep you awake enough so you can watch the tv screen but my GI guy knocked me out. Who knows? Maybe the guys a perv or something, they could have done anything to me in there, I wouldn't have known.

My GI guy said to come see him and he would prescribe some medication for me - we'll see. Maybe an IBS med or maybe something for diverticulosis. If I take that and I still have pain I might revisit the hernia and consider this as some kind of nerve pain or something. The hardest part of this is trying to understand whether the pain in my sides is related to my BM problems and why there is the occasional testicle sensitivity. So far between 1 urologist, 1 GI, and 2 general surgeons all I know is what the actual tests have answered, i.e., ultrasound, CT, colonoscopy.

Well I've said enough. Does the pinpoint of your pain change locations? Mine is in the flanks but the pain does not have 1 exact location. Curious.

THE MOST NASTY SWEATY FUNKY TASTING SOLUTION EVER 2 BE DRUNK. EVERY TIME I SIP IT, I WOULD ALMOST THROW UP. I HIT THE LOO MORE THAN 15 TIMES AS WELL. IN MY OPINION, THERE IS NO WAS SOMEONE CAN DRINK ALL 4 LITERS. THATS KRAZZZZYYY. I GOT MY COLONOSCOPY DONE 2DAY AND I WAS AWAKE THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE PROCESS. I SAW EVERYTHING, FELT EVERYTHING, AND REMEMBER EVERYTHING. IT WAS SO UNCOMFORTABLE WHEN THEY FILLED MY COLON UP WITH AIR AND HE KEPT GOING UP AND DOWN MY COLON, IT FELT LIKE HE WAS IN THE SAME AREA THE WHOLE TIME WHEN HE WAS MOVING THAT SCOPE, BUT IT WAS GOING IN DEEPER. ONCE DONE, I WAS ROLLED 2 A EMPTY ROOM ABOUT 15 FEET AWAY AND I JUST SAT UP. 5MINS IN, I SAW ONE OF THE NURSES AND I TOLD HER IM READY 2 LEAVE. I TOOK OFF THESE PATCHES OFF MY CHEST AND SHE TOOK THE IV FROM MY RIGHT RISK, GOT DRESSED AND LEFT FOR THE HALLWAY. I EVENTUALLY RETURNED BACK BECAUSE I NEEDED 2 USE THE PHONE AND THATS WHEN I SEEN MY GASTRO SPEACIALIST DOC WITH HIS LUNCH IN HIS HAND. HE MENTIONED EVERYTHING LOOKS OK WITH MY COLON, BUT THERES A LITTLE NARROWING AND WAS GIVEN 2 DIFFERENT TYPE OF MEDZ AND 4 A FOLLOW IN ONE MONTH. THE DOC ALSO SAID I COULD HAVE I.B.S HE ALSO STATED THAT I SHOULDNT HAVE LEFT AND TOLD ME TO TAKE A SEAT, WHILE HE WAS EATING IN A ROOM 10 FEET AWAY FROM ME, I SAT FOR 3MINS AND JUST TOOK OFF FOR THE FIRST FLOOR LOBBY 2 MEET UP WITH MY LADY.

Good to hear there are no serious problems. The solution is certainly gross but like I said it's gotta be better than a self given enema, i.e., the alternative - my friend did that for a hernia surgery and has been questioning his manliness ever since. That sucks that they didn't knock you out - did they tell you why? What was your level of consciousness during the exam? You could actually feel it? Was it painful? I remember just waking up after because of very painful gas pains. The rest was the same, the post-exam room was right next to the operating room.

I am very curious about the results of your exam. The doc said your colon was narrow? Very interesting. The whole colon or rectum? Any reason why your colon is narrow? Guess that explains the thin stool. Wonder if I have the same thing. My doc didn't say much to me after. Did your doc mention diverticulosis/diverticulitus? Was the potential IBS diagnosis identified from the colonoscopy or is that his answer because he found nothing? What meds are you on? I am going to the GI doc tomorrow afternoon and he told me that he is going to give me some prescriptions.

Finally, what is your diet like? Before my problems I probably would have less than 10 grams of fiber per day and didn't drink 10 glasses of water. I'm not a green veggie guy and have been slacking on eating fruits and bran for a while. I have since increased those things in my diet. Apples seem to really help me.

Get back when you can and remember - no booze for a couple days - that stuff killed me with the solution still lining my intestines.

ALSO MY BOWELS WOULD ALWAYS FEEL INCOMPLETE. AS OF RITE NOW I DIDNT EAT ANYTHING, BUT JUST DRANK STRAWBERRY ENSURE AND GATORADE. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOUR DOCS ADVICE THEY GIVE TO YA WHEN YA SEE THEM. yeah sorry to hear about you being awake during the whole thing. I think everyone where i got it done was being knocked out. Sounds like bs that u were awake. That ain't right.

I have upped my fiber intake with a lot of wheat things, wraps, bagels, etc. Also eat fruit, like I said apples are good. Water and the veggies that I can eat have helped along with 2-3 chewable fiber tablets a day. All Bran cereal is good as well. All this fiber though can make you gassy. Throughout all of this I can't seem to shake the pain that I have on my left side (sometimes right). I would also say it is about 1/2 inch below my navel and is in the left flank. But it does radiate around at times.

I will see my doc tomorrow and let you know if I find out anything of interest.
