Getting a pap is nothing like sex, forced or otherwise. It's good for you to get yourself checked out for your own health. If you're feeling nervous, explain your fears to the gyno and s/he can talk you through the procedure. They might even ask a nurse to come hold your hand while its done.

Unfortunately, pregnancy and birth requires a bit of peeking around at your private place. If you're skittish about that, I apologize, but it must (and will) be done. Explain your reservations to your doctor so they can ease you into the swing of things rather than just doing it. Maybe if you understand what they're doing as they're doing it, it will help calm your nerves.

Discuss your ppd fears with your doctor and/or therapist.

*edited to add the following*

.I've read over your other posts, and it seems somewhat unlikely that you're pregnant right now. With your current state of mind, living conditions, etc I don't think it's advisable to get pregnant right now (assuming you're not already). Please start using protection. You need more time to work through this anxiety of yours.

You don't need to go to the doctor for your initial pregnancy test. Get a home pregnancy test - they even sell them at the dollar store - to find out if you are pregnant before you get yourself all worked up over it.

Since you are sexually active you should have a pap smear once to keep you healthy.

Maybe you could get a female doctor, if that would make you feel more comfortable.

My anxietys do not effect my life on a daily basis. And while me and my bfs decisions are our own. And I value the opinion of others here very much. I have the means to raise a child and the will power to do so.

I didnt mean by this post to seem as if I was unstable or unsutable to raise a child. To be honest it hurts quiet alot for someone who doesnt know my intire situation to say that I shouldnt have one. I am not in anyway trying to be a witch with a capital b and I am sorry if I come accross as such . But since getting on this forum ive felt like everyone believes I am ignorant to how all this works and wat having a baby is like. I practically raised my younger sister.

Either you want the advice and opinions of fellow board users or you don't.

We can only go by what you post.
We don't know your life story - so you are to us what your posts say.

And based on that I do not think you are ready for being a parent.
You might have helped raise you kid sister - but a baby will be yours all alone.

Hi I am sara I read your post I used to have the same problems with pops
but I was never raped but I was just scared casue I was a virgin . I am studying womens health in college to become a obg. Accordeing to my studes there is this lotion you can use but you are only suposed to use it one time casue it may affect your tests and also tell the docter you are useing it . Its called lidocaine. I think you can get it from a parmacy .
Its just a lotion you put on around the vignal area Embarassed it just makes the area numb. Thats all it does . You are haveing problems becasue you think it hurts or becasue it hurts you ? Maybe I cant tell you about your problem becasue I dont know you and your condition but usally women get pain in pops or sex for the fisrt time casue there vignial area maybe to small . I wish you beter luck and welcome to the site
