Q: Heavy Bleeding In 3rd Trimester

Hi all - I am not pregnant, but my friend is and I am curious about something that happened today.

My friend was rushed to the hospital because she was bleeding heavily - she is about 7 1/2 months pregnant right now. What are the problems that would cause or can occur with the bleeding during 3rd trimester, im not sure what any of it means. Or is it normal?
