Help With Atypical Facial Pain Symptoms.... Posted: 01-22-07 19:09pm
I have been diagnosed with atypical facial
pain after months of cheek, jaw and neck
pain. My pain is constant, aching,
burning and I have only had minimal
remission. Narcotics and muscle relaxers
do nothing. My mri was normal. I am
really starting to get depressed from the
constant pain and no one believing me or
wanting to help.
In the past 6 months my pain has only
worsened and my symptoms increased. At
first I just had the jaw and cheek pain,
then it started radiating down the side of
my neck on the affected side. I have
twinges, occasional feelings of skin
crawling on affected side and occasional
buzzing under skin behind ear on that
side. Now I am having sever neck pain on
that side and pain down the back of my
neck between the brain and spine. This
occurs mostly when I lie on my back or am
driving for long periods.
I am under a neuro's care and have been
going thru the med trial and error to get
relief, but so far no luck.
Please anyone with advice or similar
problems, help me.
Thanks.

Have they conducted a nerve continuity
test in those areas? Sometimes the nerves
are to blame for "sparking" the pain.
It's really the only thing I can think of.
Ask about it. Can't hurt. Best of luck.
