Lump In Groin Area (Page 4)

I am 19 and accidentally came across these lumps within my groin area 3 weeks ago. I had noticed a small itch, pink, dry skin spot near my pelvis and as I felt around downward on my right side where my thigh starts but on my pubic area and I felt two large 'knobs'. Immediately I thought that the mark I had found was skin cancer and I found another mark on the top of my right buttock. I've been panicking reading about melanoma and how in stage 3 it get's into the lymph nodes and swells them up. Yesterday I went to the family Dr. and he said that they are probably swollen lymph nodes possibly from ingrown hair growth. He didn't check out my weird eraser head sized skin patches and just said I appear to be a healthy young person and my lymph nodes in my groin area are probably just fighting off some infection. I am on antibiotics now and will be seen again in 2 weeks to see if they have gotten any smaller. I supposibly have two large ones that can only be felt on my right side groin area and one small one on my left side groin area that seem to be painless. If they don't get smaller with amoxicillin then the Dr. said he'll take my white blood cell count for cancer. Today I went to the Dermatologist to have them take a biopsy of the two small patches. He felt the knobs and told me that they don't feel like lymph nodes because they can be easily moved by feeling them and that they might be cysts. He cut out the chunks of skin and stitched me up. The results will be back next week. I also went to the OBGYN today to get blood work taken. I haven't had my period in 4 months. I quit birth control 4 months ago because I became bad with taking them daily and wanted to start my new pack on the right track again but I haven't been able to start it again because I never get my period. They'll be testing my blood for my horomone levels. I'm wondering if my periods, stopping birth control, or tanning interacted with these lumps and skin patches. Now that I've been reading more I really don't think I have skin cancer but I wonder what those itchy pinkish scabby marks were? Yesterday I cried and cried thinking how could I just notice these skin marks the same time I notice these 'lymph nodes' and probably already be in stage 3 cancer and possibly even 4! I'll post what I find out next week or the following week on these 'lumps'.

Hi, I too am finding a lump here on my fold. Unfortunately, for ME I think it is linked to my herpes outbreaks, seeing as it's only swollen when I'm having one. (Gross, I know, which is why you should always make sure your man is using a condom, no matter how well you think you know him!)

Other than this, I am a pretty healthy person. I exercise and eat pretty healthy. I am young, though. (I'd say my age but I'm sure none of you would take me seriously.)

I think some of you MAY be getting the fold area confused with the cervix area. The cervix is just a bit higher. When I first went to the doctor for my condition, he also felt around in my cervix/pelvis area and concluded that I also had "cervicitis" or inflammation of the cervix. He originally checked for this because I told him that there was more discharge than usual. So, if you are having more discharge than normal and are experiencing a tenderness around the pelvis and cervix areas, then you should definitely go see your doctor. It's nothing serious though, he just gave me one dose of azithromycin and that did the trick.

I hope everything ends well with all of you.

Lumps around the groin area (personal experience)
I too get those lumps around my groin area. A few years ago I ended up having one on my underwear line that grew to the size of a walnut...too big to be lanced in the doctor's office so I had to have it surgically removed. He called it a sebateous cyst. (please research SEBATEOUS CYSTS so you'll be more educated about those and how dangerous it is to squeeze them) I still get them here and there but none have ever been any bigger than an almond...some are smushy/soft, others are hard, simply because not all of them are cysts...some are just ingrown hairs. I know it's VERY tempting to pop these things but please do NOT do that because some could be filled with dangerous bacteria that could spread to other places, possibly your whole body if left untreated which could turn into a major health issue. The best thing you can do if they become too much to bear, whether it's the location of it, the size, or how painful they are, go to your family doctor and get a script for an antibiotic. The meds will make them go away within a few days to a week. If by chance they start to seep, just put some triple antibiotic ointment on it with something clean, like a sterile q-tip, the kind that come in individual packs, then put a band-aid on it to help keep the area clean. Let it air-dry at night while you're sleeping and repeat the above when you wake up unless it's constantly seeping. If so, just put a band-aid on it at night and add the ointment at the start of your day because you don't want to keep ANY area of your body constantly moist for a long period of time. Do this until you can get to your doctor. It's also best to put a warm washcloth on the area and this might help dissolve them faster. But again, please do NOT pop or squeeze these things or you might be dealing with more than just a small lump under your skin. Good luck everyone!!! I hope this helps!!

Lump in Groin
I developed a small lump in my groin area. I went to the doctor and they wanted to cut it out but said it was to deep and sent me to the Gyno after giving me antibiotics as well as anitbiotic shots. The antibiotics did nothing. The Gyno said it really was not in his region but to go home and soak in a hot bath three times a day for three days and see if it would come to the surface he also said it was to deep for him to mess with. The lump was about the size of a nickle and was firm but did not hurt nor did it get a head on it.
I had it surgically removed last week. After the doctor removed it he infomed me that it was not a cyst like he thought it was but it was a tumor. I am waiting on the lab results to determine if the the tumor is benign.
I would suggest anyone that develops a lump does not depend on a website to educate them on what is going on in their body. Everyone's is different and one cannot explain what they have developed in words. Had I listen to all the websites I read I would still have a tumor growing inside me. I am not saying that everyone has a tumor remember when my gyno did the surgery he thought he was removing a cyst. I am only saying in this day and time and with the advancement in cancer treatment the sooner it gets caught the better your chance of recovery. Dont take chances with your body take care of yourself and get it checked.

Hey guys... so I think I've got the same thing. Bartholion Gland Cyst or whatever. But the thing is? I'm 14. Also, I'm not sexually active [even though an increasing amount of fourteen year olds are...]. I have a boyfriend, but we don't really do that, so it can't be an STD.
I noticed the pain a while back and I thought that my underwear was just too tight or something. That night when showering I saw the bump. That was three weeks or so ago and I thought it could have just been an ingrown hair, and that it would go away, but it hasn't. I'm reeeally paranoid and I'm going to the doctors soon, and while I'm there, I'm getting this thing checked out.
It's about half an inch wide, it's in the fold of my thigh and my groin... and it only hurts if you press on it. Help anybody?!?!

Lump in groin area
Hello, I am 50 yrs old and found a small lump in my groin area. It was about the size of about half my little finger. Within 3 days, it was the size of about two fingers with some tenderness. On the sixth day, it was getting larger and more tender, so I saw my physician. She prescribed Bactrim twice a day and told me it was an abscess. She also advised that if it got larger, or if I saw any red streaks leading from it, or if it did not improve by the end of the medication, I would need to see a surgeon to have it removed. After two days of taking the antibiotic, it was getting larger, my skin was peeling, and I was in terrible pain when I moved. My sister in-law convinced me to go to the ER. The doctor there opened the abscess, drained it, and packed it with gauze. It was horribly painful even with medication and an antibiotic in my IV and with 3 local shots to the site. I was advised to come back in 2 days to have it checked, but was told it needed unpacked and repacked and to come back again in 2 days. Well, today they removed the gauze and left a gaping deep cut the size big enough to slip a penny through. They covered it with gauze and tape only and advised to clean with soap and water only and NOT to apply anything topical such as Neosporin. Oh, and at my first visit they switched me to Clindomiacin?, not sure if that is how it is spelled. I take 2 capsules 4 times a day. It is still tender, skin peeling, but swelling has gone down some. I was advised to follow up with my family doc in 5 days. Hope it gets better. Doc advised it is caused by a nic shaving or an ingrown hair. Please if you find something like this, DO NOT squeeze it. It will only cause it to spread and make it worse! Oh my!

I have a lump in the mid part of the bikini line of my groin. It is so painful to touch that I can get a real idea of how big it is but it feels to be about the size of a grape. It's so painful I just need to bump the skin and it hurts. I've had ingrown hairs before so I no that that isn't what it is. I have zero faith in doctors so im hoping it will clear up in the next few days! Any ideas anyone?

Well i found out my first lump in my groin last year just after our honeymoon. was so scared so saw a doc the same week. He explained to me that it was like a swollen throat and asked me if i had any wounds around my legarea. indeed i had, i had a big scratch on my hips which was bleeding if i scratch( which occured in the sea) But i was not satisfied and had my blood tested even had ultrasound of ovary. Everyrhing was ok. And the lump disappeared after 6 months.
Now , 2 days ago i found out a big bug bite on my hip and after one day my nut size lump returned. am planning to wait and watch for a while.

went to immediate care
I had one twice before when I was pregnant back 12 and 16 years ago. Just got one two days ago again. The other times I had this, they lanced it and puss came out and that was that. Yesterday I went to an immediate care to see about getting it lanced and he just gave me antibiotics and told me to soak it twice a day in warm water. He said if the lump doesn't go away after the antibiotics I'll have to have it removed. He said it wasn't my lymph nodes as that would be higher up closer to my hip bone(but a little lower). This is just outside where my underwear is a little more on my leg area. He felt it was an abscess with bacteria. That's probably the same as that cyst that someone mentioned. The immediate cares are so nice..you don't need an appointment..just go in and tell them you have a lump in your groin area and have them check you out. I'm sure most of the time it will be this...but you all should get it checked out.

I am 31yrs old and I have been experiencing bumps and lumps since 2007 on my pubic area, I have had them lanced, cut open and have even gone as far as having surgery where they removed 15 cysts on my pubic hair follicles. My current gyny says that he can not treat me anymore due to the fact that I am taking way to many antibiotics a person should take in months time. I have had them so big that the emergency room is wondering how on earth I walked in on my own. I am tired of living this way cause mine are more frequent an occurring that I cant function all that much in society these days. Anyone know what these are??

Lump on groin? Is it hernia? Fatty lump? Or cyst on ovaries?
.I've got a large lump on my groin, that is very visible through my trousers, I have been referred to the hospital twice, for n ultrasound and the first time they never found anything coz they never checked the llump area and second time I got th ultrasound the doctor told me it was a fatty lump.
I don't understand they can tell there is nothing wrong with the lump by using the ultrasound method that's used on pregnant women for scans.
They never further examined me after the ultrasound and told me they weren't taken me any further.
The lump in my groin size of walnut size, you cannot squeeze anything out it as there no head on it, I can't sleep on the right side because it sends pain from right lower abdominal to my knee, I suffer from a lot of pain with it, I find I can't sleep,or sit too long, most time a feel quite sick nd my lower abdominal on the right sight swells, the Pain occurs more when it's cold, even though I'm wrapped up, the cold still effects it. Also I suffer from a lot of urine infections as well.
Every since I noticed the lump a year and half go, I found ingrown hairs on my chin and around my nipple area, these hairs are. Very thick, dark nd coarse, and I need to pluck them every second day, also my hair growth is rapidly fast, the hair starts grown in the next day which is unusual.
I just think that the doctors are wrong because I went to a few doctors in that year time period and every single one took a guess it was a hernia, fatty lump, cyst on my ovaries, they idnt have a clue what it was,
I think they are more to this lump than what they are telling me, as I'm in pain everyday and I'm always ill, and if I catch a bug, i have it for long periods of time.
Im a 21 year old female near enough 22 in a few weeks and ive been suffering this for about years now.
Could anyone help me?
Thanks
Michelle

Could you give me a little more of your medical history? where EXACTLY is the lump? I am assuming it is deviated to the right slightly as you get right sided pain? Im training to be a doctor and i better myself by trying to solve online case studies. Has anyone in your family been diagnosed with any genito-urinal problems? it does not seem too serious though, it would be painless if it were a tumor and would have shown up in the ultrasound. The fact that the doctor refused to follow up on it suggests that it is merely a cyst or a benign tumor that happens to be in an unfortunate location that makes it very uncomfortable for you. the constant strain on it from being in such a location may be causing you pain.

Oh and about the hairs, i forgot to mention is as a result of some hormonal imbalance that has some androgenic(masculinizing) effect so it may well be an enlarged lymph node. It could be a number of things really all you need to know is that it doesnt seem immediately life-threatening and that the only way you will truly know if it is something that will get worse is if you make sure you dont tamper with it or sleep on it or do anything that might give it physical pressure and see if it subsides.
