Lump In Groin Area (Page 3)

July 31st, 2010
Hi there ladies,

I am so glad there are forums like this discussing the topic as when I first got these lumps about 3 years ago, I thought I was the only one as none of my friends said they had experienced them.

As I say, I started to get these painful lumps under the skin on the area of my groin where I shave.. to the side of my vagina on the kind of chubby soft skin.
Back then they didn't bother me as much as only came along every couple of months.
However, now I am 22 and I get a lump come up about every 3 weeks and when they come they are so painful. They usually build up in about 4 days and sometimes you can see yellow under the skin with purple bruising and then they can burst. SO sorry to gross anyone out.. I just hope this can help us all!
About 5 months ago, I went to the doctor who didn't really know what it was. She asked me if I shave and I said yes so I assume she thought it was an ingrown hair. I started to use hair removal cream to see if this would work but the problem persisted. At the time she gave me a weeks worth of Antibiotics and this worked for about 2 weeks but then went back to the lumps.
I know I should go to the doctors again because they are really hard to live with and even when there is no lump, I have kind of dark areas on my skin where they once were! Sad
I just read through this blog and read about the Bartholin's cyst and I was very interested in the part where it said it was most common in 20-29 yo. As I'm 22 I fit right inside that category.

My dilemma is, mine appear on different sides of my vulva and alot of the time in different areas so if I was to get one removed.. there would always be another!!
Maybe I will have to live with these for the rest of my life? I hope not!

Has anybody had one removed? Was it painful? Can you ask for General Anesthetic?

Thanks so much

Poppyvogue,

Im glad i came accross this site and read your post. There's a lot of people who seem to be experiencing the same thing, but i can relate exactly to yours.

I havent been to see my doctor yet, as im hoping it just goes away, but i too have them every so often, they last a few days then disappear. Sometimes they are yellow too!
Im 19, so seem a bit young to have a bartholin's cyst. It is worrying me, particularly this time because i am 6 months pregnant (i had them before this).

They are in the exact same area, and too come up in different places each time, but mainly on the left.

Has anyone been to see their doctor about something similar?

Thanks

I'm so glad I found this site. Itoo was just searching and this popped up. I have a lump the size of a grape on the inside of my leg right next to my vagina but it is in the groin so not a batholion cyst. My sister had one of those so I know its def not that as that closer to the lips, where as mine is more my leg.
Mine isn;t really tender, probably just gets like that when I prod and poke it and try make it burst just in case it is an infection. Stupid I know I just want it gone. Mine is just hard and only goes bigger when I keep touching it. I'm just putting some antibiotic cream that I was given for another skin infection I had and hoping that helps. Self diagnosis is bad I know but I just dont wanna go to the DR. Im 30 BTW

Reoccuring cysts in female groin area
Leemurtail, Hello ladies. When I was 18 I had this rather large lump in that area. It hurt so bad, I had to leave a job training session and go find the nearest doctor. The doctor lanced the cyst and alot of fluid and blood came out.
what a relief that was. The pain was gone and I returned to my job training. I am now 48 and still these things come and go. I have quite a few scars down there from all the cysts. Usually I can take care of them myself by sticking a stereile sewing needle into it. Once I do that, all kinds of stuff comes out and it starts the process to go away or at least find some relief. It has nothing to do with being an unclean person, it's just the way the skin, glands and such are in the groin area and sometimes they can show up in your armpit. For me it's a part of life, no fun but also no big deal. Remember always use sterile instruments and keep the area clean. Good luck.

Another, Me toooo.
My groin has been swollen for 1 week now, a tender lump. The circulation to my inner thigh feels abnormal, tingling intermittently. I work as a nurse, just graduated R.N. school and cont to think of all the "worst case scenarios" that are listed when researching this topic. My doctor told me that since I just got off my birth control to try to get pregnant, that I may be finally experiencing a flare up of ovarian cyst symptoms. Birth control apparently masks some women's symptoms of reproductive masses/cysts/abnormalities. I was informed that it is frequent that women who just stop b.c. experience flare up of symptoms.
I had blood test done and nothing abnormal there. Going to get an ultrasound of abd/pelvis this week.
I agree that all lumps or new symptoms that are found in your body and cause discomfort should be assessed because if it is the worst case scenario, you at least could be warned of the interventions that would help you right now. Smile That being said, my right groin lump is bulging, visible on appearance of my skin, and like a hard marble. The doctor said as long as I do not feel sick, continue with life and get tested for problems just in case...

This may help... We still have no answers but only your doctor can help you find your individual problem.

Staph Infection
I have found a lump in my thigh/pelvic area in the lymph node area. I just got over a bout of MRSA staph and my general MD told me I may find some lumps in that area and not to be alarmed.

I woke up with a lump around the right groin area yesterday morning. At first, it really just felt like a pulled a muscle there in my pelvic region at the crease of my leg, but then pushing around on it revealed a lump, almost like an oval shaped marble. It's hard and very painful. The pain radiates out by about 2 or 3 inches around the entire lump. It hurts almost anytime I move, but nothing is visible on the surface of the skin...no redness, no bump, no bruising, nothing. The area is a little swollen in general though. It hurts worse when pressure is applied to the area or I'm walking. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow. I will post what I find out.

Lump in groin area
I have a lump the size of a half-dollar coin in my right inner thigh, pelvic area (where leg meets the pelvis). It is hardly visible by sight, only by touch. When I press it, it hurts a lot. WHAT CAN IT BE??? I've tried making an appt. with OBYN but I have to wait till next week!! I'm SOO worried!!!

Groin Lumps
I suffered from the same symptoms for 5 years...saw doctors but they always just said it was "nothing to be worried about". They were right, however, that didnt take away any pain and discomfort...long story short, two months ago I discovered tea tree oil packs and my "lumps" problem has drastically decreased. All but one of them have "dried" up and disappeared. Some come back during menstruation, but I get started with the tea tree oil packs at the first sign of anything...has returned my life to normal. Do some research about the benefits and uses of tea tree oil...

Same symptons
Same sympthons. Hmm, I'm rather worried, I only noticed my lump after a hot bath in which liquid with blood began to flow from it after I squeezed it. I'm too terrified to go to the doctor and want to wait, after squeezing it, it seems to have gone down but it's now painful and there is a slight pain in my upper right thigh..

Lump in Groin
Juls

I am 41 and have had a lump in my groin/pelvic area on the right side now for over a year and I have been to my OB and had tests, all came back fine, he said it was too high to be involved with the female parts, so sent me back to my regular doctor. He was unsure and said it could be a swollen lymph node because I had an infection in my toe on that same side. Well my toe has been fine for over 6 months now and I still have the lump and I do have the same, but smaller, lump on my left side. But the one on my right side is the one that causes the most issues. It is the size of a quarter and only notice it when I push on it, not visible to the eye. I notice that I limp and run now with a limp due to the pain it radiates at times and have started getting some tingling/numbness down my right leg. I went back to my doctor again and now he is sending me to a surgeon to look at it as he doesn't know what other tests he can do to see what it could be. This blog has given me alot of relief, but still question the limping, numbness and tingling now. I suggest to anyone and everyone to always go see your doctor, try not to be afraid, the longer you prolong it the more stressed you are and possibly for no reason. My lump is no where near my vagina it is close to the fold in my leg just inside from the underwear line on the groin area not the leg. Keep up the updates, these help everyone ladies! I will post what the surgeon has to say when I have that appointment at the end of this month.

Did your surgeon tell you what it was? Mine is in the same location. Right where the underwear elastic is. I am worried that it could be lymphnode cancer.(I know that's the worst case scenerio)I hate doctors, is Y I'm here. Anywayz, did yours ever change size? Mine goes from the size of a zit to the size of a quarter. Hurts more in the quarter size. Doesn't bother me as a zit size. But it is awkward to walk/run. Mine sounded most like yours 'cept the sizing...
Sincerely~

Lump under skin in groin/pelvic area, not bartholian cyst!!!
I too have a lump in my groin area and find the post about it maybe actually being my ovary very comforting. I am thinner than I have ever been but not too thin. On and off throughout my whole life I have always had little pea size nodules which are definitely not bartholian cysts (and it's very irritating that I keep getting told that's what it is) and I only get one per side and never have one on both sides at the same time. I've never shown my doctor but they are up high where my thigh meets my leg in the pelvic area where my ovaries would be. The pea size lumps stay for years and then just disappear. Every once in a while one will get painful but never for very long and only with pressure. This time I have one on the right side next to the other pea size lump but this lump is 3 x the size, a little less hard and very hard to find unless you know it is there. I've had it for 3 months and it was larger and painful so when it shrank some and stopped hurting I just ignored it. Now it hurts, like a strange pulling sensation. I just had my period last week and I've had a very bad headache for 2 weeks. I'm not quite as healthy as I used to be so I think it could maybe be a gland fighting something but I just don't want to go through a bunch of scary tests for nothing. Does this sound serious to anyone or has anyone else had something very, very similar? Thank you!!! I hope we all get better soon:)

I just recently found a lump in my groin, more near my leg than my actual vaginal parts (rough to describe the location). It started out feeling like a bruise, when you touch it the pain is kind of dull and achy. As the week continued it became worse and the lump grew to about the size of a walnut. It became more painful to touch. I couldn't lean against anything, get in or out of my car, sitting and even squatting hurt. I went to the hospital to see what exactly is going on and the doctor ordered the typical blood test/pregnancy test. He informed me that the lump is most likely an infection of my lymph nodes, but there's always a chance that it could be lymphoma. I was prescribed antibiotics (am currently taking the dose) and told that if it does not get better in the week I should have a biopsy done. I wouldn't suggest putting off seeing a doctor. See one ASAP. Although it's most likely something that can be treated, waiting isn't the best idea. See your doctor. And post on these types of forums. It was very helpful to me. I hope that I've brought some comfort to someone else as well.
Smile I'll post should I find anything else out.

Hailz91,

This is iowa87 and I would suggest you get to a doctor, especially if it runs in your family. When in any doubt go see your doctor, if you don't have one, investigate for yourself what local community care centers you have that you can go to, putting things like these off and depending on a medical answer from these forums is not suggested, we use these forums to help aid in whether others have the same thing and what they might do, but 90% of them suggest to go see your doctor. You are young and I wanted to reply to this as soon as I read it to hopefully help you in deciding to go. Good luck to you!! Smile

Lump on my pubic area
Sounds like i'm not alone. I have this large lump on my pubic area and it hurts like hell. It's huge causing a deformed shape. I find it hard to sit and have to keep pulling my boxer pants on the affected side to ease the pain. Sleeping is a nightmare too. I have them every so often but the bad ones are a rarety. Normally i can see a yellow/white point and when i press there is a discharge-that's when i'm relieved but this one has no point and it only has a smooth shiny patch. Anyone have a similar problem-HELP!
