Hello,

my name is kathy, and i'm 53 years old, I had something very strange happen to me this past tues. I was working in the kitchen, and went to make a step, and noticed my left leg and foot went numb, I didn't fall, but it was like I was stepping on an air cushon..My leg was just like rubber, like I didn't have normal control over it...And also my left arm.

Does anyone have any ideas what this could have been?

I've read that low blood sugar can mimc tia, but with me I wasn't hungry and didn't have to eat anything. I'm not diabetic. This all lasted about an hour and 45 minutes or so, before I was totaly back to normal, except from being tired.

Thanks for any advice...Oh yes I didn't go to the doctor, because it eventually went away.

Again thank you
kathy

Hi kathy, I really think you should see your doctor because it does sound like it could be a tia and even though the symptoms go away, it means you are prone to forming blood clots and could end uo having a full blown stroke without treatment.

Please, go and see your doctor!

Taken from: http://www.Patient.Co.Uk

without treatment - about 1-2 in 10 people who have a tia have a stroke within the following year. This is much higher than the average risk of someone of the same age having a stroke who has not had a tia. The most risky time is within the first month following a tia - which is why treatment is advised as soon as possible after you have a tia. Also, within a year of having a tia, about 3 in 100 people have a heart attack (myocardial infarction) due to a blood clot in a blood vessel of the heart.
With treatment - the above risks are reduced
