We took our w2's to .Aaron's mom's last night. Aaron and his mom sat down and, I guess, rushed through them a bit. I was watching .Alyvia in the living room and .Aaron comes storming in all pissed off and says "we owe over 2k to federal."

i was like Shocked because, what! We only owed like $200 last year, and we made *more* last year and didn't have a child! So .Aaron was freaking out, his mom was trying to calm him down, and I passed the baby to him and redid the taxes. I spent like an hour on them too! And he looked up the wrong number on our tax table! And didn't check to see if we qualified for a couple of tax credits (we did). So not only do we not owe, we're getting back over $2000 because of our beautiful little .Alyvia. I told him he's buying me something pretty. Laughing

we're going to take those pictures today at his mom's house! She's going away to a retreat and her house is lovely, so we figured we'd do that instead of trying to add backgrounds and whatnot. I'm so excited!

*does a happy little dance of relief*

I'm hoping ours turns out ok...We won't have a little one to claim till next year. We've been pretty lucky and have always gotten a little bit back every year...Hopefully history repeats itself!!! Laughing

I love tax time! We're getting a lot back too. I didn't request something pretty, I requested the nintendo wii and I can't wait to get it! Then we're getting finn his next car seat and the rest is going to boring stuff like bills.

You'd better share your pics when you get back! Are these the sexy corset pics? Ooh la la!

T: my husband took our taxes to h&r block last year to make sure we owed (it was our first year owing), and apparently we qualified for a little something because I was pregnant. I'm not sure what it was, but you might want to ask around. It helped us out a bit.

Sarah: make sure .Baron checks your eligibility for the "child tax credit" and "eic" (earned income credit). Aaron was positive we wouldn't qualify for the second so he didn't even bother doing the worksheet to check. And he used an incorrect figure for the child tax credit and decided we didn't qualify for that either, but we qualified for both. Instead of getting back about $500 (which was the correct amount when we used the right tax table, before the credits) we're getting back over $2000. Make sure, girl!

lol will do! I'm really excited. The corset is sooo beautiful. We're going to pick up a bottom to go with it today, assuming we find a nice one. Aaron's really excited about it, because I agreed to wear a pair of boots he bought for me that I incredibly' hate! they have this really huge spiked heel on them that I think is just disgusting, but they'll go really well with the shots we want to take. I told him "you better make sure I look hot" Laughing

His company has this lady, that does their taxes for less than a hundred dollars. And she's *great*!!! She gets money back for damn near everything. Gas, toll, lunch, boots, nomexs, everything!!

It's gonna be a gooood year! Lol

Hey, speaking of taxes... I'm confused!
I only worked maybe 4 months in 2006, so I didn't make very much at all... Shane has worked all year.
A friend of mine told me that I should claim .Kaylee on my taxes because I didn't make a lot & I could file as a single mother, she said I would get more back that way. But .Shane's parents both told us that .Shane made more so he should claim .Kaylee...
This is so confusing, .I've obviously never had to worry about claiming another person on my taxes so .I'm completely clueless... Can someone help me Embarassed ?

Okay, hon. What I would do is:

sit down with .Shane. Each of you do your taxes as if you were claiming her. And see who ends up with more money at the end.

Ok, I didn't even think about that!

Does it even make any sense that if I didn't work hardly at all that I would be getting more back if I claimed .Kaylee? I was awful at this stuff in school lol, it's just too confusing for me.

I would do a before and after. Do your taxes before and after claiming her, and do his the same way. It might take a while, but the money is soooo worth it. It's possible he's in a higher tax bracket than you, so federal might require him to pay more taxes than you. That's ultimately why we owed last year: we made just enough to bump us into a higher tax bracket.

Ok, .I'm going to tell him that. I think we'll definetly do it that way because we need all of the money we can possibly get!

Thanks Smile

really??? I've never heard of anything like this, but I will definitely be asking around. Anything extra would be very helpful right now. We are renovating our house a little bit, so that we have room for baby!!!
