Q: Do I Have Herpes?

Back in feb 2006 (almost a year ago) I noticed a rash around my penis along with burning when I urinate and ejaculate. It went on for several months, sort of coming and going. Sometimes the rash was hardly there and other times it was really bad. I got tested for stds, chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and hiv - all negative. But they treated me for chlamydia and gonorrhea anyway. I took the full amount of antibiotics. The rash and pain when urinating went away, but not totally. And then less than a week later came back and I have had the problem all summer and winter.

About three weeks ago I noticed these bumps filled with clear liquid on my penis. I have a small cluster of about 5 or 6 of them. The cluster was no bigger than a pensil eraser. I went to the doctor today and she said they were hpv (genital warts) and burned them off. (maybe she was incorrect because they sure looked like herpes to me) she said that the burning and rash could possibly be genital herpes and gave me a urine and blood test. I don't get the results back for three days.

But i'm really scared.

Is it common to have a continual genital herpes outbreak for several months? I know that you can only have rashes and painful urination w/o actually having any sores. What else could it be?
