My girlfriend is on the pill and takes it religiously. We are sexually active but almost always use condoms as well just for the peace of mind.

She started her period this last friday, ended it sunday/monday morning and on monday we had sex without a condom and I finished in her.

I have two questions.

1, should I be worried about her being pregnant? I'll be the first to admit that i'm kind of a worrier and am pretty sure I don't have to worry but would like some reassurance.

And 2, does the fact that she was only on the 4th day of her new cycle lower the risk of pregnancy at all?

Please let me know.

Active User, very eHealthy

As long as she is taking her pill correctly and not on antibiotics, she's fine. The chance of pregnancy is about 0 (since no method other than abstinence is 100%).

Extremely eHealthy

1. As the person above me mentioned, the pill is just under 100% effective by itself, about 98% or so I believe.

2. Yes and no. Women are not usually fertile at that time if (that's a big if) they have the perfect 28 day cycle with ovulation occurring about day 14. Not many women have that perfect and predictable cycle, however. That is why birth control is needed every time. Women can even get pregnant when they are having their period! Sperm can live a little while in the vagina, and also we just don't know exactly when we are going to ovulate.
