Q: Could It Be Nexium Helps

Hi:

i keep reading about baking soda being good for the gout. I imagine it's because it lowers the acid in the body, right? Well, I take nexium for ulcers which does the same thing. Could this explain why my symptoms are not severe and I have never had a "gout attack?"

Baking soda in water neutralizes stomach acid and causes the stomach to produce more acid. As the result, it makes the blood and body fluids more alkaline which is good for gout. Nexium (a proton pump inhibitor) doesn't neutralize the stomach acid; it just causes the stomach to produce less acid. Therefore, nexium does not alkalize the body and has no effect on gout.

Gout can attack any part of the body, e.G., spine, around the heart, in the eye ball, etc. It can also attack at various intensity. Do you have the 24-hour ua result yet?
