Hello- I am going to be starting ortho tri-cyclen lo on sunday and was wondering if anyone who is on or has been on this pill in the past could let me know how their experience with this birth control pill was. I get really nervous about these sort of things and always expect the worse. Of course when I read how they can cause blood clots and stroke and everything I get really freaked out! I am 21 years old, do not smoke, and am in pretty good shape.
I was on the birth control pill aviane for about 8 months- stopped in august because I was on antibiotics for sinus infections that seemed to never go away- therefore I haven't ben on a pill for about 5 months now-
when I went to my new obgyn (because I needed one closer to my college) I told her how I was off the pill for a while and she wrote me a perscription for ortho tri-cyclen lo. I didn't really notice any side effects when I was on aviane except for my periods being extremely lighter and less painful (which was nice) but now that I am going on what I believe a higher dose of hormones with this new pill I am worried about side effects and how my body will react!

Any advice or experiences you can share would be much appreciated! Thank you Smile

Aviane has 20 mcg of estrogen, otc-lo has 25 mcg, so it is not a huge difference as far as dosage is concerned.

Otc is a triphasic pill, and some women may do better on monophasic pills, which have all the same dose of hormones.(aka aviane)

Thank you.
I have been doing a lot of research online- which I know can be bad because now I have gotten to the point where I do not want to start taking the pill. It seems every post I have read on various sites about women taking otc lo were negative- I do not know if it is because only people who are having problems post their experiences or because mostly everyone taking this pill has negative side effects.
Almost every single person writing in reguards to ortho tri-cyclen lo has said they have gained at least 10 lbs-a lot have gained even more than this- they also said it affected their moods and complextion as well. Should I think about going back on aviane instead because i, personally didn't notice any differences with my body while on that pill.
Has anyone had good experiences with otc lo?*

Each and every woman is different.

That is all I can say :/

if aviane was good for you, then you should keep taking that particular pill, why mess up a good thing.

I have been on otc-lo for over 4 months now and I am doing great. .My periods are regular and .I only had side effects for the first month (only very tender breasts). .My breasts also increased in size, which is good for me but maybe not you.
