We have been together for 17 years and she now has hpv. The last time I had sex with someone other than my wife was 19 yrs ago. About one year ago she had a bacterial infection. Is there an explanation?

Hope to Help!
To my understanding a person can carry the hpv virus for years befoe any symptoms occur. It is possible your wife contrated this during her childhood and it lay dormant for all these years. I have an aunt who was diagnosed with hpv, had (fever blisters) hpv herpes simplex 1, but never had problems in hte femal region. I am not a professional, but I do know some people have outbreaks and some do not.

Ok, hpv is not herpes. That needs to be said.

To answer your question, hpv can be dormant in the body (yours or hers) for many, many years and not show up until a woman is in her late 30's early 40's.

There is no connection to a bacterial infection. Hpv is a sexually transmitted infection. You don't get it from anything else.

Well, hopefully she doesn't get cancer from it. My aunt-in-law has hpv and now has cervical cancer because of it and is going through chemo-therapy right now. It's bad man... They were married for about the exact same amount of time and it popped up randomly. Not sure if there was any straying going on in the relationship, but they are dirty ugly white trash so you never know. Laughing

but if she did cheat on you and got it that way, then I guess she dug herself a real deep hole.
