Q: Weight Gain

Since I am a little on the smaller side, I wanted to gain a little weight to help maintain health for this pregnancy. I didn't think I was eating a lot more. I went for my 3 month appt today and gain 15 pounds. The nurse and doctor were astonished and said that is quite a bit weight gain for only 5 weeks (saw them five weeks ago). Now that's a lot of weight. I laughed a little because I honestly thought my belly pooch was at least a little baby belly - nope. No wonder I am practically wearing my old maternity clothes. I asked the doctor if our bodies metabolism slows down during pregnancy...He said no. It does, doesn't it??? For me to gain this much weight, it can't entirely be food??
He actually told me to slow down the eating. I really don't weigh that much but he said at this rate, I will gain a lot of pounds before all is said and done.

At least my husband likes a big pregnant wife! I went home and told him what my doctor said because it was funny, and he said "weight is good, keep eating!!!"

Lol yay for the good hubby! 15 lbs in 5 weeks is a lot. I can't talk I gained about 70lbs with my pregnancy but watch that you don't over eat if you're small to begin with. Smile

My mom was put on a diet with my sister. I think she had gained 30lbs by the time she was 4 months Shocked . In total, I think she put on 70-80lbs!

I have gained 10lbs so far(i'm 32 weeks), but i'm sure when I see my doctor tomorrow, I would have put on a few more pounds.

Geez .Chelle!!! Lol, .I went from only have gained 18, to gaining like 27!!!! &.Now all this talk of having to have an ultrasound to check his weight. I really don't think .Gabey is gonna wait 'til .March! Shocked


.Ladylee, .I wouldn't worry *too* much about your weight. Just do what your doctor says &as long as you're eating healthy, you're fine!

hopefully he won't come too early! We love beefy babies lol

i only gained 11lbs with .Jordan and he weighed 8lbs 1.5oz.

.Christ on a stick!! Lol, you lucky lady. I'm just thankful that .I'm all belly. I haven't gained anything anywhere else. Just belly &boobs. Lmao. We'll see how the next 2 months go, though. Rolling Eyes Laughing .Do you get a lot of water retention?

i'd be more lucky if the weight would just fall off afterwards Laughing

i wake up every night to grab a glass of water or two(that'll just get me back up in an hour to wizz it all out Laughing ). I find my fingers are swollen mostly at night....... Bad! You?

I'm so bloody congested!!!! I can't stand it!!!

I never get swollen at alllll. Ever. I'm beginning to think that pregnancy (at least this one) is just really good to me. I haven't had any real problems or complaints yet.

My swelling did not get really bad till after I had them. They gave me some medicine to help make my kidneys work better but that did not work. It just took time for it to go down.

Thanks. I will have to lay off of the cheese. I eat cheese from morning til night. With my first, I gained 30 pounds but didn't start gaining until my 4th month. I didn't eat as much cheese.

Watching my cheese intake will be hard!! I need my cheese!!! I eat huge amounts of yogurt and milk, too. Life would be hard if I were a vegan.

Accoding to my sister's scales i've put on 3 stone which I find impossiable because i'm still wearing my old clothes if I had put on 3 stone I wouldn't fit into them plus I think my midwife would have mentioned something if I had put on so much weight so quickly. I think my sister needs new scales

i think so yeah. There is no way I could have put on that much so far i'm only 16 weeks! Yes i've put on weight but i'm pregnant I would be more worried if I hadn't
