My brother hasn't been the same for at
least four years. He was recently taken
to the mental hospital against his will,
but released with several diagnoses. The
doctors diagnosed him with psychosis, r/o
schizophrenia, etoh abuse, as well as
other substance abuse.
He refuses to get treatment on his own, as
well as refusing to take any medication.
He is severally drawn back from social
situations, and only truly trust my mother
and myself. The situation worsens since
he has become threatening to others. I
fear for my parent's safety, and it seems
as if there is nothing anyone can do.
How can you help someone who doesn't want
help, but truly needs it. I would really
appreciate any opinions or suggestions.
This is a really hard time for my family,
and I just want help for my brother.

I don't understand how a mental facility
can release someone knowing that person is
a threat to someone. You said yourself
you are afraid for your parents. Was this
not discussed when your brother was at the
hospital? I am really lost as to what to
tell you, other than get in touch with a
physican that knows the situation, explain
to them that you are afraid and need to
know what options you have. I wish you
all hte luck in the world!
