Can I reply even if I haven't had one?
Well sorry if I shouldn't but I really want to breastfeed if I can and unless I start getting tons of infections etc I would continue it.

I tried breastfeeding for 2 weeks with my first. It was so hard and on top of everything else I had to deal with I switched to bottle feeding and I like it. I'll continue to bottle feed.

Hey
If I was preggy i'd prolly breastfeed for like only a month or so. Then bottle. Just enough to give the kid the nutrition that only breast milk can provide.

I will just say that the benifits of breast feeding include:
1: while breast feeding your baby is protected by your immunity to disease, bub does not have her own immunity fully developed till she is atleast 6 months old.
2: breast feeding helps reduce the risk of sids
4: middle ear infections are rare in a breast fed baby
5:breast milk changes to meet the needs of the baby, it is the only milk that has exactly the right amount of everything
6: it is hard to over feed a breast fed baby, although not impossible.
7: it is the easiest method of feeding, no sterilising, preperation, heating, cooling, completely portable and you can express for those much needed breaks....
8: and most importantly, breast feeding helps your body to return to normal alot faster, by 6 weeks your uterus is completley back to its normal size, it burns calories so weight loss is a brease, if you eat right and gently excercise...
Sorry to preach but most people don't know all the facts and just think its the colostroum that is important....... It isn't for every one but expectant mums should try to give it a go, if not for u then for bub.

Hello ladies...
Mumof2 has made a very good point with that list... It's important to weigh up the benefits (and risks) of both and make an informed decision after that... Some people can try and push you towards something you don't want to do so it's good to have all the info so you can decide for yourself.
Best of luck to you all! Smile Cool

I know all the benefits of breat feeding, however I think what makes the mom feel most comfortable and which ever is the best route for her is better. I know with 4 kids undr the age of 4 I dont have time to feed just I for 20 minutes! Laughing if anything I wouldnt mind pumping and feeding with just bottles!
