Q: Pain 1 Year After Vasectomy

My husband had a vasectomy last january. In november, he started having some pain in his left testicle and some swelling. The dr gave him antibiotics and upon giving him the second round of antibiotics, he did an ultrasound, which he deemed normal. After more pain ensued, he decided to go to a urologist, who found that he had two hernias (the first doc missed these, as we actually asked if he had one) and cysts in both testicles. The pain has gotten almost unbearable for him. Does anyone know if a reversal would help in this case, since this is caused by a backup of sperm? I am also wondering if the insurance may pay part of it since it would be a medically necessary procedure vs. A reversal to have more children (which we do not want to do!)
i am so upset for him...He's in almost constant pain, his personality has changed, and of course, we are not having sex. He did this for us and for me so I wouldn't have to get a tubal, and now I feel just awful that he is experiencing such agony.
Thanks....

Vas. Pain
The "cysts" should diminish as the backed-up sperm are absorbed. A reversal will not "fix" the problem. It will only add to his discomfort. The hernias need to repaired asap. I had a vas. 9 mos. Ago and i'm still having pain also. I have no cysts or hernias. Happens to one in 10,000 or so. That's why they give you the "1 in a million have this happen" speech, in case you are that one. I feel for your husband but think the hernia fix will make him much better. The "cysts" will eventually diminish. The pain may not.
