I need to know what it is that the baby will need when he/she is born. I would like to start making a list of the things so that I can be prepared.. Thank you!!!!

Especially eHealthy

Here is a list of things that you will need at least to start.
furniture
crib
mattress
dresser(s)
bassinet and pad(mattress)

some people will say that you need a changing table but I don't really think it's necessary. I have one that i've used a total of three times. I usually change the baby on the couch, bed or floor. I do recommend a couple changing pads (they sell them for a dollar in walmart).

feeding
bibs
pacifier (about 5 or 6 because they disappear)
bottle brushes
bottle warmer
bottles
nipples (get a lot they wear out or disappear in the sink Confused

)
bottle caps
if breastfeeding then get a good pump and nursing pads. I also recommend storage containers for freezing or refrigerating your milk.

bathing
baby bath tup
hooded bath towels (4 or 5)
wash cloths (i recommend getting a lot of these)
nail scissors
nail clippers
brush & comb
bath soap (mild)
lotion
baby oil
vaseline

clothing & changing supplies
diapers
onesies (get a lot then you don't have to do laundry as often)
one pieces outfits
sleepers
interchangeable separates
socks
crib shoes
receiving blankets (we still use these)
side snap undershirts

miscellaneous
stroller
toys
bouncer seat (this saved my life!)
photo album
thermometer
aspirator
crib sheets (at least 4 sets)
bumper pad

ummm... That's all I can think of right now....

i recomend getting the baggies to store breast milk in because you can store a lot of them in a freezer and they are cheaper to buy and easier to defrost then the cup like containers. I would pump and then pour it into a baggie.

I cant beleive you forgot the one most important thing...Car seat (unless I just skipped over it)

its common sence but a lot of people seem to forget it until last minute

also id recommend a baby carrier (like those hip carriers or a sling carrier, keeps the baby close and lets you use your hands)

omg I hate those things.......I carried my baby in my stomach 4 nine months I am not going to strap a sling on my stomach and carry her around.....Lol

I didn't even read the second part of the post. I have one of those carrier thingies and I don't really use it. We used it a little at first but it made my back hurt. He was a big baby to carry around. Honestly dh used it more than I did.

i hate them too. I have a bjorn and i've used it once, 15 minutes after putting it on I was all slouched over trying to relieve my back. I have a bad back anyway but it can't be good hanging a 12 pound baby off your shoulders.

Hmm, well ive never actualy used the sling kind, but my mum got me one for later

ive used the hip and back carriers though, when I was babysitting, they were a godsend for me, I have a worse time carrying a kid then lugging a kid I guess, if that makes sence

i need to be able to use my arms for stuff, plus ive always liked the back ones for toddlers, I have a balance problem and having something on my back tends to help

i hate to bjorn ones.....It was really funny I was trying to wash two weeks worth of dishes and amelia wouldn't be good for me....She wanted me to hold her....So after 20 mins of trying to figure the thing out I finally got it done and put her on my back and finished my dishes but by the time I figured out how to get her out of it and take the thing off of me my back was hurting so badly. Lol

You have a bjorn that goes on your back? I've only ever seen the front carrier types.

On the subject of the bjorn, what is so special about them that makes them over $100? That's just ridiculous!

We got a baby sling as a present, and one of those backpack thingies just after she was born. Alyvia hates both. She screams her little head off.

it's a front and back one......I got it from a friend...She said that she didnt' use it either...But at least I got my dishes done. Lol
