Ava stopped being so fussy and she did wonderful when we went shopping for the day. My husband and I love to watch movies and eat at restaurants when he's off of work. Instead of always asking my mom to watch her, we'd like to bring her with us. I know it's fine to bring her to a restaurant, but what about bringing her to a movie? I've never seen anyone bring their baby to a movie. If I plan it right, she may even sleep through the whole thing. Of course i'd walk out if she'd cry, but I think she'd do fine.

The only thing I would worry about would be the surround-sound speakers. It might get too loud in there for her little ears. That might just be me being paranoid though.

The tv's always loud over here and she sleeps through it. I know that a newborn's hearing is kind of muffled. I'd have to look into that. I never thought of it that way. Thanks.

If you decide to go for it I suggest going to a matinee, there will be less people then.

I'd be annoyed having a movie disturbed by a baby to be honest, and i'd never take a baby somewhere like that.

However, if you feel it ok to do then i'd suggest you sit near the exit so that you can leave quickly without interrupting as many people as possible.

Personally, I wouldn't do it for the two reasons already mentioned here. Firstly - it'd be far too loud for a baby's ears and secondly, i'd be worried about irritating other patrons.

Emma, you dont know about the guzzo theaters and moms and baby day??

One of the theater chains here has a mom and baby day (i think weekly). Everyone goes with their babies and it's a place to meet other .S.A.H.M.

" enjoy a new film in a "baby friendly" environment. On site: change tables & wipes, stroller parking, bottle warming, welcome gifts and more... Reduced sound to protect little ears. Admission is $9.00 (deux-montagnes $8.00). Infants are free. Dad's and caregivers are welcome too."

it's called movies for mommies and they offer it in few diff provinces here.

You could check out your area and seeif they do that.

No because the guzzos are all out of the way for me and I joined a great moms and tots program in my area that I went to almost daily. And i'm not a big movie person. Sit still for 2 hours! Ha! Lol

Some women don't have the luxury of having a baby sitter. I know I didn't. My daughter, and my son before her, went with me nearly everywhere. Since I was breastfeeding, it was only normal to always have my child with me.

I took her to movie theaters and out to dinner. I'd get up and walk out if she was being fussy. I'd usually timed it so she'd sleep through.

When she was born, I told my husband we were going to make sure she knew how to behave in a restaurant and the only way I knew how to make sure that happened was to take her to restaurants. She is a pro at it. Wink

as babies get older and their awake periods are longer and they are doing more, taking them to the movies isn't easy (or fun!) for anyone.

Jess they have that here too.

Basically they have a specific theatre for mom and babies where you can go and meet other moms. Its awesome but the movie selection kinda sucks cause they wont play violent or horror film as to scare the wee ones and like blaze said the sound is reduced and all amenties are included.

Personally I havent done it I have friends who have and loved it, I cant sit still longer than 30 mins than I get fidgity, im hyperactive lol!

The theathers we have here are huge, but not that many people go during the day. I think if we'd go to a daytime show to a movie it would be doable. She's not fussy anymore. If she would fuss by any chance i'd take her out immediately. She doesn't just start crying all of a sudden. If it's timed right she'd probably sleep through it. I don't feel like it's too loud either. Has anyone done it besides ingi?
Thanks

That's a good point, but there's also a lot of people at the stores and i've taken her shopping more than once. Also, for the holidays she was around 40+ relatives a few of which were sick and she's fine, so you never know.
The chairs do kind of freak me out. I hate thinking about everyone else's heads that have touched those seats.

please dont take this the wrong way, but I can find only one way to say it...(i luv u ahead of time lol)

just because you've done one thing, doesnt mean you can continue exposing her to nastiness... Its pretty much unavoidable when it comes to grocery stores and such..

Just because you've done it before doesnt make it right. We as parents are supposed to protect our children at all costs, not voluntarily expose them to harsh environments when we can do otherwise.

Remember I love you Smile
