Q: Iud Problem

I had an mirena iud place in 2/7/06 and ever since I have had unusual cramping that starts in my stomach and goes to my knee and almost prevents me from putting any pressure on that leg. This happens often but not every day and I dont have any health insurance at this time nor can I offord to go in. I would just like to know if this is a side effect or if it sounds serious. Thank you for your time.

Sounds like it could be pressing on a nerve, i'd say it sounds like it definately needs looking at.

I wanted to mention that that kind of cramping 'pattern' has happened to me, and you are not usual.. No freaking out just yet! Mnestrual cramps have a funny way of hurting into our legs..

Planned parenthood would see you, no insurance needed, and it is way way cheaper than a private doc.

I also get cramping quite often and I am always worried of infection. But what puts me at ease is the fact that they occur once a month and then tend to subside. So I am assuming it is related to ovulation. I go for my annual in a few weeks so we will find out.

I had my mirena inserted in January, I had really bad cramping the first day, but fine after that. Every once in a while i get a little pain in my stomach, it will last anywhere from 1/2 hour -2 hours but it is not sever enough to go down my leg. I just went for my 6 week check-up to make sure that it is still in place and the doc said everything is fine. She says that sometimes you will get cramps. But maybe your iud has moved a bit. If the pain gets worse I would go to a clinic. I am not sure what the medicare is like in the US, I am from canada and it is different here.

Amiebugs.......where did you have the iud put in? I only ask because you said you didn't have health insurance so I was assuming maybe a planned parenthood?? If you don't have health insurance you should check out your local planned p. hood and you can be seen for a minimal fee/donation if not for free.
