Ok ive been reading on this forum and several times people have asked that if they have thrown up or something if their pill was affective and the answer usually is that if the person threw up within four hours of taking the pill then they need to retake that pill in order to still be affective. What does this mean? I mean if I take a pill on a monday at 10 in the morning but throw up at 11 in the morning and therefore need to "retake that pill" what pill is it that I am taking? The tuesday pill ( the next days pill) or would I need to get another monday pill from that same week in a separate pill package... Or what? Im so confused on what pill I am actually retaking. This hasnt happened to me or anything but I would please like clarification so that incase it happens I will know what to do. Smile thanks!!

All women should keep an extra pack of birth control pills laying around just inc ase something like this happens!

Yuo can ask your doc for an rx for an extra pack.

You would take the next pill in pack, or the same pill in a 'spare pack'.

You must take 21 active pills, and by throwing up one pill and taking the next, you are cutting your month short by one. It is not good to do this, it compromises protection.

Ok so if something like this hypothetically happened to me, then I would "retake" that days pill from a spare extra pack and then take the next days pill as normal on the next day right? I just wanna make sure I understand this correctly. And if I am getting this bc from planned parenthood, can I still ask them about getting an extra prescription you think or no? Thanks!

You are correct =)

usually planned parenthood is great about giving you an extra pack to keep around!

Just explain to them why you need an extra pack, and they should be happy to help.
