Q: Almost Fainting

This was the closest topic to the problem I have. Ever since I was young i've had an almost fainting episode at least once every few months. I experience lightheadedness, dizziness, and the loss of colour in my vision (everything goes not only blurry, but black and white). I also get very sick to my stomach. I've never actually fainted, but i've come close. Sometimes it will happen when i've been standing for a long time or if I sit up too fast, but it will also happen if I don't eat or am overheated. And lately I am constantly light headed. Are these the signs of something more serious? Or is this just a rare but normal occurance? Any help/info is extremely appreciated.
