Hi, i'm new and looking for some information on what could be causing my pain.

For just over a year now i've been getting this funny kind of pain on the right hand side of my head, in my jaw and neck, just below my ear. In may 2005 while I was on holidays I had really bad pain in what I thought was my wisdom teeth. I saw a doctor on holidays who gave me antibiotics thinking I had an infection. It didn't get better. When I got home I saw my dentist who did x-rays, took a tooth out, re did all my fillings, did some more x-rays and said he can't see anything that could be causing the pain. I then saw another dentist while my dentist was away who also said she couldn't see what could be causing the pain and has refered me to the hospital to see if something else other than my teeth is causing the pain. The pain in my head and neck got so bad I had to go to the hospital and was practically begging them to do something but was sent away.

There's 2 types of pain I get. Usually it's a sort of tight, pulling kinda pain on the right hand side of my head, at the back sort of at the bottom of my skull. Don't know if this makes sense but it feels sort of towards the surface of my head not like it's deep inside. The pain in my neck feels the same and I get sharp stabbing pains around my teeth and in my jaw. Sometimes the pain changes to a stabbing pain which lasts a few seconds and goes as quick as it came. But the tight sort of pain can last for hours, sometimes days but usually goes away if I take 2 paracetamol.

I'm been panicking like mad that it could be a brain tumour. But i'm just panicking too much and know that it's not really that. I'm quite healthy, have no other medical problems. In fact, I can't even remember the last time I had to see a doctor. It's just this pain in my head/neck that's getting me down. Sometimes it's even hard to tell exactly where it's coming from. I don't feel dizzy, my eye sight has always been a bit rubbish but I don't think it's got worse since i've been having these headaches, I don't feel sick or it doesn't wake me up at night. It's just worrying me sick. It's come to the point now where i'm waking up every night and not sleep properly because i'm worrying about it so much Rolling Eyes . I've looked all over the internet trying to find what it could be but haven't really found anything.

Anyone have any ideas? I'd really appreciate it so thanks to anyone/ if anyone replies Smile

Hi
Hi sweetie, so sorry you are in so much pain. I understand bging a worry wart myself. I always seem to think of a thousand things that could be wrong. You mentioned going to a dentist/dentists for dental work. Had you actually had an infected tooth, you would have been on antibiotics to clear that up before you ever had an extraction. Did this dentist take xrays? Its hard to think a hospital would send someone in pain away. Crying
or Very sad , I feel you should find a reliable physican to talk too. Explain to them what you have told on the forum, you are in pain and worried sick to the point of loosing sleep. This is not normal and you need to find out whats causing the problem. I wish you all the luck in the world!
