Q: Odd Movements

I just delivered my beautiful baby girl 7 months ago. Recently for about the past 6 weeks i've been having feelings in my lower abdomen, as if there is a baby in there. I'm on the depot shot, and am not due for another one for several weeks. Also there has been no weight gain. I especially feel it when i'm feeding my baby, and she is pressed against my tummy. So I guess my question is, if i'm not pregnant what could these movements be caused by?

i had this exact same thing when I was breastfeeding my son, but that was in the first few months.! I remember being a bit freaked out about it but then I just assumed it was something to do with the hormone released when you breastfeed. When you first have your baby and you breastfeed, you release oxytocin (i think) which makes your uterus contract back to its normal size. Perhaps, even though your uterus should be back to normal size now, it still reacts to the breastfeeding? This is only my guess.

If you're not pregnant then the other possibility could be that you've got wind (gas) and the pressure on your bowel area is causing the gas to shift.

Thanks For Help.
Well thanks for your help, however I didn't breastfeed my daughter. She was a formula baby. So thats why i'm puzzeled. Also, I haven't noticed me being gassy. I'm not sure what to think of this.

A lot of women feel what are called *phantom movements* after having a baby, sometimes for up to several years afterwards.

Its psychosomatic I think.

i did for like 3 weeks pp. It was so bizarre. Then I started having dreams that finn was a twin and they didn't know about the other baby so they left him in. Crazy!

I felt movements for the first few weeks. The other day I felt a couple of movements again after not feeling anything for about month. I even took a test because I was nauseated for a few days. I think that was from starting the pill again though.

lol. That's why i've never mentioned it! I thought I was a weirdo! I would even say to nick "sometimes it feels like there's still a baby in there". Glad to see it's kind of normal.
