I am 13wks and 5days pregnant according to my last period, but 11 weeks and 2 days pregnant according to my ultrasound but do I take off 2weeks from the ultrasound date???? . I was told on 1st dec I was 7wks, (9wks and 3 days according to my period) but was I on that date truley 7weeks or 5??? I didnt have a vaginal ultrasound. My last period was on the 26th september and my cycle can range from 28 days to 34 days (bizarre I know) but I would say is an average of 34days. They have given me a due date of around about the 20th july, but im completly confused by this. I thought they were using my ultrasound dates because my period differs from my ultrasound dates by 2 weeks and 3 days roughly and the ultrasound is more accurate, but they have still given me a due date of 40weeks rather than 38, even though they are counting from conception. Shudnt my due date be around about the 7th july?? If I go back 40weeks from my due date it takes me to two weeks after my period and 38 weeks takes me to afew days before my next period was due...I already had spotting a week before then so im very confused by this all. Someone please help. Its important I know roughly how many weeks I am in fetal age.

Based on being 7 weeks pregnant (not 7 weeks gestation) on dec 1st.

Note your actual period maybe different to your "period week" because you are irregular, but that is how they will count your weeks.

20-oct	01	weeks	(period week)

27-oct 02 weeks (not yet pregnant)
3-nov 03 weeks (ovulation occurs this week)
10-nov 04 weeks (implantation mid/end this week)
17-nov 05 weeks (skip period this week)
24-nov 06 weeks
1-dec 07 weeks
8-dec 08 weeks
15-dec 09 weeks
22-dec 10 weeks
29-dec 11 weeks
5-jan 12 weeks
12-jan 13 weeks
19-jan 14 weeks
26-jan 15 weeks
2-feb 16 weeks
9-feb 17 weeks
16-feb 18 weeks
23-feb 19 weeks
2-mar 20 weeks
9-mar 21 weeks
16-mar 22 weeks
23-mar 23 weeks
30-mar 24 weeks
6-apr 25 weeks
13-apr 26 weeks
20-apr 27 weeks
27-apr 28 weeks
4-may 29 weeks
11-may 30 weeks
18-may 31 weeks
25-may 32 weeks
1-jun 33 weeks
8-jun 34 weeks
15-jun 35 weeks
22-jun 36 weeks
29-jun 37 weeks
6-jul 38 weeks
13-jul 39 weeks
20-jul 40 weeks

you're periods are not a regular 28 days. That means the time from your period until you ovulate varies.
However, it is unlikely that the time from ovulation to your period varies by much at all.

So they will count your period as being 2 weeks before your conception date.

oops typo but that actual time line shows as 7 weeks on 1st dec.

It is possible because you period might have been going to be later that time around.
With irregular periods it is hard to work out so easy because you can't know for sure how long each cycle will be.

I guess so but I just find it odd, they are never any longer then 34 days and was due on the 31st, seems awfully close to my period. My last was on the 26th sept.

I guess you are going to have to speak to your doctor then, hunni.

It is possible with your irregular cycles that you ovulated late and then implanted late accounting for the difference.

I mean if you ovulated only 10 days before your period was due (not typical but quite common) instead of 14 days before. And if your implantation occured 14-16 days after fertilisation (again not typical but very possible) instead of 7-10 days - then the gestational age of your baby will measure as less - placing you earlier in your pregnancy than someone who ovulated 16 days before their period and implanted after only 7 days.
