New User, Becoming EHEALTHy
Two weeks after my eldest son was born in 1998, I awoke and my jaw cracked really loudly!! The doctors said it was just it dislocating...But every few months after that it kept going and felt like it had come out..But a good hard slap always got it back into place.

After three long hellish years of this, it finally stopped opening fully altogether. The doctors and dentists kept bouncing me back and forth saying they couldn't do anything until the other had seen me!! Eventually I was referred to a specialist who told me my teeth had corroded (due to a problem when I was pregnant with my second son) after he was born I was told I could either have them all out or have the work done over the space of a couple of years. I chose teeth out. But once out I was told they could have done all sorts while under anestetic. But they then had to do the dentures because I couldnt open my mouth properly.

Now I am doomed to a life without teeth, because all dentures hurt my jaw and never fit properly no matter how many try ins I have, and not being able to eat, along side having intense jaw pain when I use my mouth too much. I've been told the jaw joint is now flat and there is nothing they can do. Ive exhausted all doctors, dentists and specialists...Not forgetting to mention the internet! Evil or
Very Mad yet I have heard an operation could help my jaw. Has anyone got any ideas??? I really need help! Sad

Sounds like you have TMD also known as TMJ which is actually the name for the joint itself. Think carefully before surgery and make sure doctors/dentists have tried everything first. I have had lots of surgeries including replacement Lorenz joints and this year will be having the right side replaced again. So if you need more information let me know.
Take Care
