Q: Bump on nipple
asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 2nd, 2007
In 5th grade we had one of those puberty classes where the nurse comes and explains things that will soon start changing us. During the class she goes into the subject of how male cheast will start to grow and sometimes small bumps will appear on our nipples, and that when squizzed a white substance comes out. well this had me worried because ever since birth i have had a bump on my right nipple that fit that description... It has always been there and Im unsure of what it is? anytime I squzze it, a stringy white substance comes out. Should I be worried, or is it just somthing like a abnormity?

Acne is typical during puberty is more common in males than females. The white substance that comes from the bumps when they are squeezed is, in fact , a stagnated sebum from the sebaceal glands in the skin. A bump that has been around since birth is probably not acne and you should see a dermatologist for proper diagnosis and treatment of this skin disorder.
